Hi, just would like to enquire how much is a half day wedding photography covering tea ceremony and dinner which is about 6 hours duration?

it ranges, some charge $50 per hr, some as high as $200 per hr....all depends on how much u like the photographer works

have day and dinner, how can cosider half day? thou 6 hours needed.
not much less than the usual whole day package.

One more thing, wedding photographer beware those people ask for half day wedding shoot, say no dinner, want you to qoute half day price, actually there are having wedding brunch or lunch, end up the total service hours are the same as day plus dinner. some more no brake for photographer in between, so also no lunch offer to the poor photographer, in the end photographer work from early moring till 4pm have no food, only drink, still want to ask for half day rate.

Photographers better take note, if someone ask for half day, better ask properly, if it is having wedding brunch or lunch, just qoute whole day rate, and ask for lunch brake, no brake and no whole day rate, ask them to find someone else.

Just out of curiousity, what does the photographer do between the tea ceremony and dinner? I sincerely doubt there would be another person wanting the other "half day" wedding.

just quote by the hour, everything will be covered.

by the way, once you start counting the hours and effort photog puted in, we find how woefully low some photog charge.

eg $300 -$600 for the whole day =10 hours

1 hour only $30 -$60

while if you charge by the hour

eg $150 per hour you get $1500 (mostly couples are able to afford this, the cost of 1 1/2 tables)

eg $200 per hour you get $2000 (some will find it expensive), again see what sector of clients you like to service but with good marketing and strong creative portfolio you may be able to convience clients.

i love the couples whom pride themselves paying a premium and will receive pictures they be so proud to hang on their walls.

Worse .... lets charge by the photograph chosen :D.....

Base charge of $100 service charge, non refundable.

For the 1st 100 photographs : $5 per picture.
For the next 100 photographs : $4 per picture.
For the 3rd 100 photographs : $3 per picture.

if the couple take 300 = $500 + $400 + $300 + $100 = $1300.

For every 100 pictures, 1 Wedding Album will be given.
Base charge to be offsetted if the couple chose above 150 pictures :D.

LOL...... sooner or later, it will down to this ;P.

Charge by the hour? Where is the time in time out clock?

:)

work out an contract and discuss about the hours needed and once the itinery is confirmed, confirm and timing and when your hours are over, politely ask if they need extra coverage or else, go home, job done. what is so difficult about it?

your pictures clocked your timing if you are using digital.

your method still need to provide pictures and albums, i charge them seperately, its part of your merchandise sold. With albums and prints i be able to charge $340 to $700 between 300 to 600 prints.

oops one more point blurblock, your method makes you want to shoot as much as possible but at the end, it makes your presentation messy as you will not sort the great photos from the not so great ones and may give the couple an overall impression that your coverage is just so-so.

we edit our images very tightly (not give every picture) to give the couple or any viewer the maximum impact of every picture, so every picture sells and the couple sees your way of shooting more clearly and you be selling your strong points and yet have a complete coverage.

LOL .... that was supposed to be a joke :D ....... Just think professional photographers got to go down to that level because everyone comes in here wanting to get cheap photographers.

Half day wedding can cost about $1500 - 1700. Say 6 hours of service @$150 per hour each , plus album, which is another $600 - 700.

Actually, I'm never bothered by people who charge cheap and people who wanted cheap. It's a case of how much one price their work and how much one is willing to pay. There will be people who like to buy or sell things in a boutique, as well as people who like to buy or sell things in a pasar malam.

Actually in some parts of the world, charges really go by per print. That's over and on top of the per hour charges they have to pay for. And in fact your charges are quite close to the actual charges, just that they're in USD.

They adopt a proofing system, nowadays being done online. Couples view and select the photos they want, put into a shopping basket, and photogs will continue to produce the type of album they want.

I feel that this system gives more professional justice to photogs who spend effort to PS their photos. I think we all know how much bridal studios charge per print, although they don't charge by hour.

I guess it takes a miracle for the pricing structure in Singapore to change radically.:)

Sorry to OT a bit here, but who owns the negatives, or the digital originals? I have heard some photographers do not provide the full resolution originals to their clients.

Depends on photographers to photographers. For me, negatives will be returnable, after 1 year.

As for digital, my clients gets the file in FULL ('high' is vague) resolution. Well, they're paying a premium for their wedding packages, one of the clause is that they cannot use it for commercial ventures.

The coverage suppose to start from 5 p.m. onwards to around 11 p.m. I suppose that considers half day. Anyway, thanks for all the kind inputs.

Yes, charge by the hour, that's the way to go,
couples will be wiser for planning how to spend thier money on the wedding day photgraphy.
And photographers will be able to use their time (service hours) more productively.

it will unlikely to see photographer show up earlier then the make up artist, or wasting time waiting for relatives to show up for tea ceremony anymore.

errrrrr, r u sure that works? what if the client says, he/she wants from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., then from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and not going to pay between 5 and 6 because there is no activity??? :dunno:

How long is your lunch brake? did your company pay you salary during your lunch brake? any brake must be more than 3 hours, 4 hours or 5 hours is up to you to set.
the main idea of this thing is to tell couple that you are expensive, you value your time, encourage couples plan their activity wisely. if a couple can tell photographer this, for sure this is the cheapo clients, the wouldn't buy this kind of idea. they would prefer to pay a package and ask photographer to start from 6am till 11.30pm, take whatever things, even their pet fish, dog and cat etc...
Even in commercial photography, client pay you by day rate, you go for a 2 hours lunch brake, client also don't bother, as long you deliver what he wants.
