i was a newbie,i didnt know what to charge....it was my 1st time...i charge $50 for a product shoot for a mag:cry:
But i believe it depends on what you're shooting..i tink:think:
they want a studio fashion spread. So i'm trying to figure out what price is waaaaay too low, which is what i think you did for yours. I don't want to undercharge because i don't want to hurt the market and undercut other pros out there and i think for the amount of time going into the shoot: preparing the lights/setup, the actual shoot and the pp $50 is waaaaay to low to quote either.
$150 / page
Thanks for the information. I'll keep that in mind.I asked my BF, he suggest you charge by per picture as you would probably need to touch up all the pictures selected and they can squeeze several pictures into 1 page or do a montage.
Very good magazines with good budget
Editorial - $150/picture, min 8 pictures for half day shoot, min 10 pictures for full day shoot
Advertorial- $1.2-2K per spread
Magazines with budget constraints
Editorial- $50/pic, min 8 pictures for half day shoot, min 10 pictures for full day shoot
Advertorial- $500-1K
PS: if less pictures are used, you can still charge a half/full day rates (Some magazine do bodypaint spreads and it can take 12 hours to paint the girl for just 1 picture!). You can add 50-100% for cover shots too.
Remember to ask for payment as soon as possible Some magazines take up to 1 year and beyond to pay whiles others just shut down after 1-2 years
ya they take their own time to pay up.I had to wait 2months ++ for my $50:angry::angry:
