How many % extra for using American Express Credit Cards?

Does anyone here know how much do the merchants usually charge extra for using American Express Cards?

I know for Visa/Mastercard, it's 2%.

as far as I know, amex charges more for the merchant. so maybe 4%?

Technically, they are not supposed to. It is specified in the service agreement with the card companies.

Technically, the extra % is paid to the card.ie visa or amex. Although occasionally in SG, you can get cheaper or better discount by paying cash, in most places, there will be no extra charges. For example, shopping at robinsons, 7-eleven etc.

One gripe i have about card is the non-acceptance of card at most supermarket. Tough for SG to be cash-less society!
