How camera shops store lens?

If i remembered correctly, the lens is simply wrapped in a plastic bag and put into a cardboard package awaiting for sales. Will that induce fungus if its store on the shelves for too long?

so long as nobody open and touch the lense, no contamination from oily hand or even a drop of sweat, then there should not be any fungus.
 

almost all camera shops are with air condition, which the humidity level is very low, don't need to worry so much.
 

In addition, there are silica gel packs in most packages. Just that after a couple of times unpacking / packing the gel is already pink. One more reason to try more than one lens .. give the other lenses on the shelf some air :bsmilie:
