If u had 3 - 4 weeks of a holiday in melbourne, wat are the things that you would do and places u would go???
well, dun have to be only in melbourne,.... can be other places/towns that are arun melbourne as well.

any suggestions, do list them

The usual...

Outside Melbourne - Great Ocean Road, Dandenong Ranges, Grampians, Sovereign Hill, etc. You can rent a car or join the day tours. APT, AATKings and Grey Line are the more reputable companies that run these tours. You can book these tours from the day tour centre at Swanston Street, next to Nike Melbourne.

Inner Melbourne - St. Kilda, Chapel Street, Brighton Beach, depending on what you want to do.

Melbourne - If you like photographing buildings, walk around Melbourne CBD. Visit Victoria market, Crown complex, Southgate, Docklands.

3-4 weeks is plenty enough to discover Melbourne. You might want to allocate 1 week or so to visit Sydney as well?

Almost forgot. If you decide to book any of those day tours, make sure you get hold of a copy of the backpackers' brochure printed by those companies. You'll get the discounted rates stated on the brochures, if not you have to pay the full rate. AATKings and APT are usually cheaper than Gray Line.

Road trips? As I've mentioned before, go to Sydney..... 12 hr drive;p Stop by at small towns like Echuca, Wondonga, Wagga Wagga and even Canberra if you want to.

You can rent a car and drive to those day tour locations too. Sovereign Hill is about 3 hr drive from Melbourne CBD. Great Ocean Road, about 5-6 hr. You can stay overnight at these locations also, just check with booking agencies. Can also go to Tasmania on board Spirit of Tasmania 1&2, you can take the car with you if you want to.

For more info, visit the tourist info centre located at Federation Square at the corner of Flinders Street and Swanston, opposite Flinders Street station. You won't miss it.

Don't forget to go on a day trip to the vineyard. Yarra river is one of the most popular wine producing region in the world.

coz after this, think i can only go fer another holiday after 1+year

As mentioned before, Dandenong Ranges is a good place for hiking, BBQ, etc...... about 1 hr drive from Melbourne CBD.
