Hey, the only advice for you is, do NOT at all cost (pun intended) let this lens get near your Pentax DSLR.. If you do, you're gonna get yourself mind-f**ked..

The thoughts in your head would definitely be somewhere along the line of:

-why the hell is my eyes bleeding?!
- what the hell? I can't go faster?!
- ****! Where are they?! *Googles for sample images of PF/CA..*
- eh? Did this lens come pre-installed with Photoshop?
-ooooo.... It's so quiet...
- stop! Don't move uncle!

So yea.. You might have different experiences but I'm lucky that I'm naturally immune to new lenses as I'm more inclined to vintage lenses or it would have taken me more than 3 days to get over this lens.. LoL!

Hmm... I would say, get the 16-50 instead.. "Beats" the 20-40 in almost every aspect that would be required of a wedding shoot.. :/

Almost same price but even cheaper used as compare to the 20-40..

ok thanks alot that will do, hope to find one if there's any at the right price since I just bled for K3 and DA 40

the Pentax forum seem to have quiet down after the excitement of k3..to re-create the buzz (hopefully), here are some pics taken with the latest limited, the DA20-40. Based on my relatively short experience with the limited and DA*16-50, i would say that in my opinion, the DA limited is a better lens even tho it is slower aperture wise.

I first tested this lens about a week ago in BIC in Hokkaido. However, i only have about 5 mins with it as i was on a tight travelling schedule but those 5 mins of testing made me lust for this lens even tho i wasnt looking to get a new lens after the recent downsizing of my lenses..so i tried to forget about this lens..but ultimately on my last day in Japan (i was at tokyo then), i decide to just go and test the lens again since i have abit more time before i travel to airport (at BIC and Yodabashi in Japan, they have a number of lenses on display which you can test till you like without anyone bothering you)..to cut the story short, i ended up with the silver color lens home because even with the small display of k3, i can feel that the lens is deserving of its limited tag and sharp wide open..

As i only got the lens on my last day in Japan, i doesnt have much time to take shots with it..so have to wait till when i am back in Sg and have some time after work to give it a proper run out

so...here are the pictures..all pictures are post processed with my usual processing so they are not out of cam jpeg..

Bros, anyone who have been using this 20-40 and FA31, which one is more useful and sharp?

Can ask yama as he is the only one i know who got both lenses.

DA20-40 at 31mm is f3.5..although it is sharp wide open..you have to remember that at f3.5, FA31 is already stopped down and so should be sharper..

did a test other day (apologies for the boring subject. Too busy to go out so can only use the opp HDB blocks as test subject. All shoot in manual mode with camera mounted on tripod. Iso 100)..at web size viewing, i dun think you can really differeniate with DA20-40mm at 31mm, f3.5 and FA31 at f3.5. However if pixel peep,i feel that the FA31 is slightly sharper in the center

DA20-40 as a zoom lens and WR, should be more useful but in actual shooting condition, i think i am ok to use FA31 instead of HD20-40 especially FA31 can go down to f1.8 if really need to

Thank you Yamakasi for the comparison,
the FA31 shots does looked like sharper a little bit, these older lens are really legendary to be able to compete with latest optics.
