I kinda expected somehow...give ERS, NSS - you all think free ah! Money no Enough...........

But why maintain low corporate tax and increase GST. Reminds me of a game I used to play SIMS 2000 but this no game.

I would rather not have the ERS, NSS and stick with 5% GST. Gahment say they already give billions on ERS, NSS so National reserve left S$115 billion. Need to top up again.

I wish my salary also increase by another extra 2% next year..he..he...he

2% enough? Never include transport fare hikes?

I don't think SimCity has indirect taxes like GST?

The sliders I recall are that of direct taxes.

Not really tough if u have the interest. As for job prospects, one would require a minimum of Masters to practice it (those holding 'Dr' titles usually go for PhDs in specialised fields or they already had a Medical Degree prior and Psychology is like a compliment on their knowledge).

And looking on, I've got close to zero job prospects on my current field of study unless I continue to Hons or Masters & specialise. ;p

Of cos, its all purely where ur interest lies. Humanities or Engineering. Electronics can be pretty interesting as well since I envy those who can actually use a soldering iron! I can't solder for nuts man. :bsmilie:

Hahaha...maybe we can switch identity....kekekek..

Soldering? Haiz..... my lungs are full of fumes ah! Kekek....ya lah, I got such skills in soldering 100pins IC in and out, no problem at all, but if it becomes a routine, it'll be boring loh!

Oppss.....OT too much liao lah bro! GST GST!!!

anw, really hope govt can really help those needy lah....for us the middle income group? Hmmm...I'll hv to spent less and invest more then!

Gharment look at the upper class and lower class. Middle class are forgotten. They tot we can afford much. If we feel so suffocating alr, I cant imagine more death in future due to $ prob. More jump? Im not stating as a joke but the society forces some ppl to went Ki Siao.

Who would wan a pay cut, right? They never say anything after all. Instead of putting their kids in local Uni, they send them to oversea. Lets see... WE FREAKING PAY THEM FOR THEIR SCHLING??? Come and think abt that. Whats is local talent then when they themselve dun set an example? Just wanna more $$$

Curse that I swear of burning more hell notes.

I am sorry for being one of the 66.6% :embrass:

BUT I WOULD NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AGAIN...

D@MN D@MN D@MN the elites!

everybody now say don't vote for pay and pay, 5 year down the road everything forgotten and same old cycle restart again. PM is holding last card and do not show-hand until next February. And always remind ourselves we are talking 7% here and not 2%...

wont be surprised after next elections will be 10%..:thumbsd:

how about 0201 components?

Soon, we going to have $2.50 chicken rice. Mixed veg rice, min $3. Coffee, tea etc.. will be ard $1. All fares goes up abt 10% after 2% increase in GST. Still want us to give more birth, wait long long. By the time our future grows up, all ppl will be suffering. By that time, GST is abt 15% already! (Predicted ard 2015, let's see!)

One thing for sure to decrease, 4D prize money. :thumbsd:

Do u guys out there feel that that the whatever package they gave is enough to help? I strongly don't feel so.

I'll do a simple assumtion, every year you spend S$10,000 on everything (eat, buy etc), 7% will be S$700. That's even higher than some of our income taxes!!

For all of us, be prepare to fork out more than S$50,000 for the GST througout our lifetime!

u know who runs SPH? who r the directors? all i can say is... injury not inflicted on ur body u feel no pain. its up to u to believe... where is the illogical part? my friend knows his neighbour for more than 20yrs already.
Even if I know, I won't care.

So what? Must all Singaporeans always assume a link between this, that and everything? You appear to be as laughable as Michael Moore and his conspiracy theorist antics.. And while there might be an element of truth to what you say, for all we know, it is obvious, and clearcut that you are merely making wild assumptions with absolutely -no proof- to back up your hints and ominous tone.

I could easily say that I am an alien, and the person who runs SPH is actually my alien invasion leader and we will sooner or later take over the world using Singapore as our base. The logic, and line of argument is not so different from yours.. After all..

Mole on my body, you won't know where it is right? Up to you to believe. I believe in WHAT I SEE, thank yew very much.. And if that last post didn't just prove the utterly blatant lack of logic in your argument, and that you believe everyone and anyone you know for more than 20 years.. Then I will have nothing more to say regarding this matter. =)

I was  when I was told that group/s of kids/people hired/paid by the garment have infiltrated/joined forums/sites/blogs to provide reason/s and provide positive comments on unpopular policies to stem the unhappiness by cyberpersons like u and me.

Just by looking at the number of new members joined this forum (and others) in recent months and the appearance of these sudden ardent vocal supporters seems really out of the normal ordinary/typical demographical computer savy people.

What do you think?

My membership experience here tells me something is more than just fishy.... LOL

Oh, you are wrong. I am not hired by the government.

I'm actually from Mars, and I will make sure you are silenced first because you have actually made the closest guess as to what my alien lord is planning! Really! Oops, I almost gave up the game.

This is utterly ridiculous, and once again I point back to my original statement; which would be that..

-notes that the GST issue has not been properly addressed, but members have flitted to other topics such as GE, electoral boundaries and what not, even dragging in NKF-

Erm, so who can really provide a logical reason against GST, that is backed up with proper economics? =/

singapore - complaining nation? Indeed, I remember reading online forums on the topic of Wee Shu Min that spoke of nothing but her mole and her boobs. What happened to logical, straightforward thinking instead of diversion to other issues to escape the reality that no one can provide a proper rebuttal other than emotional outbursts? =/

-crosses his fingers and hopes that someone actually listens to the truth in what I say instead of flaming me and saying that I should be part of the ruling party, for crying out loud.-
*preens myself on being astute in advance by knowing that such posts were happen*

let me point out that what you've just done is to simply prove my point - that people here LOVE to make great diversions! One minute we're talking about GST, and then OMG, THERE"S SUPERMAN IS HE COMING BACK TO EARTH? Get the point?

If you have nothing else to say except to draw up conspiracy theories, then let me tell you.. MARS WILL RULE! Ok, now go and spread the joyous tidings. Planet Earth will fall.

From FY 06 Budget statement GST receipts are estimated to be $3.6b and $3.75b for FY 05 and 06 respectively. Assuming the same spending habits of the population this would translate to a linear growth in GST receipts in addition to inflation ie 4.16% increase to $3.906b in FY07. If you add another 2% into it, then it would become $3.984b.

(referenced to Q1 linked here) Now ask yourself, would a increase of $0.078b help in the Govt expenditure of $30.62b (estimated from FY06 budget).

At the end of the day... it just means the poorer are similarly Taxed and their burden increased.
-If- the aid package is more than sufficient to cover the additional burden on the poor, would there be any further argument?

The trouble is, we don't know what this aid package encompasses yet.. So which is why I would like to wonder why everyone is already busily slamming the move and saying that ONLY THE INCREASE ALONE WILL HURT.

What about the second part of the statement? Ignoring the part that the lower income group will get additional aid as a result of this increase.. Is akin to listening to a guy say

"You are good, but you have a lot of room to improve." and feeling good about yourself. Like that funny ad not so long ago that had the parent listening to his child's coach rant, but only hearing selectively.

Hope you catch my drift.

P.S. Heh, blah can't be bothered to debate with you on 2 forums la. You can guess who right.. =/ Heh.

My wishlist for this year:

1) 8000 virgins on a sunny island that doesn't resemble Sentosa in the slightest
2) 80000000% pay increment
3) 0 tax. Zilch.
4) Good transportation infrastructure, better handphone service, more perks everywhere

O wait, our government officials just need the magical power to **** out gold. And platinum. All crafted into world-class standard jewellery. Maybe Santa will give them those powers this coming Christmas? =D

To want the best without forking out a single cent for it - that's probably the majority's dream.. But is it realistic? =)
