444 CARBON ONE
This tripod seems really attractive to me...

SPECIFICATIONS
Finish - Carbon Fiber
Material - Carbon Fiber/Magnesium
Maximum Height with extended center column - 157 cm (62 nches)
Maximum Height - 122 cm (48 inches)
Minimum Height - 22 cm (8.7 inches)
Closed Length - 49 cm (19.2 inches)
Leg Sections - 4
Maximum Load Capacity - 5.0 kg (11 lbs)
Head Mount - 3/8" threaded mount
Weight - 1.6 kg (3.5 lbs)

Anyone knows if it's available locally and how much it cost? S$500+?
Or is there another tripod with near similar specs (more concern abt max height & closed length)?

Tks!

Slik Pro 703CF, Pro 804CF and Pro 803CF are 3 more you could consider....

personally, I'm using one that's shorter when folded, taller when fully extended and weighs around half of the manfrotto 444. It's rather flimsy though.

would you be using the tripod for your 5700? if you add on a head to the 444, the weight will likely exceed 2kg.

803CF
Maximum Height 60.2" (152.9 cm)
Minimum Height 14.6" (37.1 cm)
7.3" (18.5 cm) with included center column
Folded Length 22.0" (55.9 cm)
Load Capacity 11.00 lb (4.99 kg)
Weight 1.18kg

804CF
Maximum Height 57.1" (145.0 cm)
Minimum Height 14.6" (37.1 cm)
7.0" (17.8 cm) with available short center column
Folded Length 17.7" (45.0 cm)
Load Capacity 11.00 lb (4.99 kg)
Weight 1.18kg

Pro 703CF
Maximum Height 60.2" (166.5 cm)
Maximum HT. w/o Column Extended 51.3" (130.5 cm)
Minimum Height 12" (30.5 cm)
Folded Length 22.6" (57.5 cm)
Load Capacity 10 lb (4.5 kg)
Weight 1.25kg

Thanks!!
804CF looks good!

Just a piece of advice, since you're using the same setup as I am.

When the SB-80DX is on the CP5700, the weight is acceptable on landscape position, however, when it's portrait, the flash is pulling the weight down sideways.

So be sure to bring ur camera + flash down and test it on the tripod first before purchasing.

My SLIKU8000 nearly toppled when I was doing potrait with the flash. Yes, my heart missed 2 beats, 1 for the flash, 1 for the camera.

Thanks for the advice!

Took some test shots with the 80dx and they somehow or the other look way better than those taken with the 50dx and the 22s! I love it! ;p

yes, your 80dx should be good... howeve if you are looking at manfrottos, check out the gitzo 1128/1128G tripods

G1128 Mountaineer Mk2 Rapid Column
Leg sections: 4
Max height centre column up: 139 cms
Max height centre column down: 117 cms
min height: 31 cms
closed length: 47 cms
Weight: 1.19 kgs
max load: 4.5 kgs

I am also looking for a possible upgrade to my manfrotto 055 which is bloody darn heavy.. personally I find this tripod quite nice though G1228 is also pretty good with just 1.5kgs supporting 8kg load.. Its just that I have not been able to save enuff for this...

cheers
