This evening there were 2 Jamaican-looking dudes there for dinner. They had some fried rice or something. Seems like they loved it a lot. Went up to the stall and said loudly "that was DAMN good fried rice!"

Was trying to do some PP to rescue my shot from this morning. Just uploaded.

It is the non-D version. will have issues when using iTTL flash.

Not the same version as yours then? Thanks for the update. Didn't know there is two versions of the push-pull as well...

80-200 there are 4 versions total.

push-pull has 2. AF and AFD

one is two touch AFD.

The other is two touch AFS.

IQ of the AFS version is the best and is said to exceed the IQ of 70-200 VRI. problem is, the 80-200 AFS is very big very heavy and have no VR.

Thanks for the break down of versions.

Speaking of non-D lenses... I noticed that there were non-D 50mm f/1.8 (MIJ) lenses on BnS months earlier... What does non-D mean? D is for distance metering right? Non-D AF versus AF-D... what are we missing out on here?

I thought D means having an aperture ring?

I thought D means having an aperture ring?

Yes, I believe all non-D/D lenses comes with aperture rings... but that's not what the D stands for... It's Distance Information. G-also comes with distance information except that is it used to classify the lenses WITHOUT aperture ring... weird and confusing, I know.

Hence my asking about non-D and D lenses.

Examples of 50mm.... non-D type is named 50mm f/1.8 while D type is named 50mm f/1.8D.
Examples of 80-200mm... non-D = AF 80-200mm f/2.8, while D = AF 80-200mm f/2.8D

That's not the only thing that is weird...

If you look at the Nikkor catalogue...

Do you know there is a difference on the word "Nikkor" alone?

Nikkor generally means original first version of the lens...

NIKKOR generally means updated version of the lens...

For example... first version of 300mm f/2.8 VR is labelled as "Nikkor"
second version of 300mm f/2.8 VRII is labelled as "NIKKOR"... Obviously the visual differences being the gold with black lettering plate replaced by black with gold lettering label... plus VR I updated by VR II...

The above is just my observation, not stated anywhere in the Catalogue... but there is a small trend I noticed...
