Hi all there,

I recently bought an Olympus E-500.

As I already have a couple of Fuji cameras, I thought I might buy a 1 gig XD card for the E-500.
I did this thinking that if I needed to, I could put the 1 gig XD in the Fuji.

WoW..........
That was my first impression of the (high speed XD card)
WoW how F***ing slow is this card !!!

I did a comparison.

I put the 1gig (high speed XD card) in my E-500 and did a format.....
45 seconds it took.

I put both my 1gig Sandisk ExtreemIII and my Lexar 1gig pro in my E-500 and did a format
It took less than 4 seconds with either.

I then looked at writing RAW photo's

Ahhhhhh

I didn't realise XD cards were so S L O W

Any comments on this ?
Flame if you must (but you will loose :bsmilie: )

Cheers in good faith :)

Erm... maybe it's just that the Fuji cameras that you were using don't write as fast as the E-500? DSLRs are typically designed to write and read faster since their file size are bigger. Card speeds differs from cameras to cameras anyway. Don't have much experience with xD cards, so can't say for sure.

xD cards are slow. LOL slow slow slow, from experience.
Heard the interface isn't up to it. But hey, if you wanna use a fuji camera, you've gotta buy one. :)

IIRC, their "high-speed" XD card writes around 1.2 megs per second?
