one can protect himself from harm by locking himself into a bombproof, bulletproof enclosure with stockpile supplies to last him for 20 years.
he can shoot those supplies for fun.
the thing is, he is not 100% safe either.
develop a sense of alertness. i have shot alone in singapore and in many other countries; i have had some funny experiences, maybe someday i will get unlucky, but i'd rather shoot than not shoot at all. that said, shooting alone in a dangerous place is literally asking for it. i always research the crime rate and look for horror stories when i travel alone, so that i know the areas to avoid. there will be something on the internet for sure, if there is something wrong with the place. and there are always, always signs to look out for. if the area's windows are all grilled heavily, for example, you know that you probably should be more alert than usual.
most incidents can be avoided if you take the necessary precautions. if you're unlucky, that's life, and nothing can be done about life.
