D7K Body Flash Light Problem - uncontrolled short burst of lights

Guys,

This had happened to me twice.

There are 2 occasions that when i pop up my body flash,
There is a uncontrollable short burst of flash light activation.

It lasted about 2 seconds...



Anybody here experience this before?

Is it some electronic short circuits / wrong settings??

Do appreciate your comments.

do u mean, when u press the shutter, it fires a few quick burst of flash for the photo?
it should be the pre-flashes which is used to calculate the exposure.

The problem is, i did not touch it ...

It is really creepy!

On 2 occasion, i was just holding the camera with the flash pop out ....
I did not press the shutter button.

when you said, i recall...
i got once, the flash auto pop up even when a external SB-600 installed...
i also got once, the flash fire rapidly many times before firing away...

u probably pressed the DOF preview. should be able to disable this "modeling light" or something in menu

Setting e4: MODELING FLASH
If On is selected when the camera is being used with the built-in flash or an optional SB-900, SB-800, SB-700, SB-600, or SB-R200 flash unit, a modeling flash will be emitted when the camera depth-of-field preview button is pressed.
No modeling flash is emitted if Off is selected

Does this happen all the time?
Think about what you were doing when this happened. There is a chance (however small you think it is) that you accidentally pressed something. You claim not to have touched the shutter release button when it 'suddenly' went beserk, but this modeling flash (IF that is the problem) is due to pressing the DOF preview button, not the shutter release. Your pinky finger could have accidentally pressed the button whilst you were holding the hand-grip.

* try to recreate this 'problem' and see how it goes.

I hope that it isn't a technical fault. Is your cam under warranty?

Throw away your D7k?? Give me, i want.Haha. I think you may have press the FN button by the side of the lens there. Even if mount on external flash it will also fire when you press that button. =}
