Just a thought on CD player.
Are there any good Blu-ray player that can double up as a good CD player ? or
do I need a separate CD player plus a blu-ray player for movies ?.
Is music going to be multi-channel in the future ?.
What are your thoughts ?.
I currently own a few new gears and is deciding if I should keep my few years old Pioneer DVD player (with SACD) for a stand alone CD player to match my gear.
Currently setup will include the Yamaha 3900 Receiver, Definitive Mythos STS, Definitive Mythos 10 center, Mission rear surround for a 5.1 setup.
Any suggestions?.
Think about it bro
so many features in one single box, how can it sound as good as a CD player...
I keep my Marantz SA 7001 KI signature for music.
In a few month, the Oppo BD 83 will be out, that may sound 'decent' relative to other BR players.
hehe yeh should have known.
The Oppo spec is very good but don't think you can get it here right ?. :dunno:
You did not read my post very well bro...
I said "A Few Months"
Dennis,
Told you liao, get a separate CD transport for your music and stick to the BDP-S550 for Blu Ray.
My old faithful Pioneer PD-T07A (110V) Japan version still works like a charm.

Don't worry, SLT technologies and some enterprising chaps will bring in the Oppo player. Plus there will be other options, stay tuned.
Yes, Pioneer BDP-LX71 Blu-Ray Player.

This may come out sooner than imagine.
Should be just under 1k but no definite details yet...
I agree.
As for the sound, I find most Pioneer players transparent and clean. Some people may find the bass a bit lean. If you are a heavy bass freak, go for either a Marantz or Technics (Panasonic) players.
