Checking if lens is scratched

just wondering is there anyway of checking if u lens is scratched rather den looking at the lens itself...is there like a picture or something to check??

well, what other ways than scrutinizing the lens under a super bright light? check both sides of lenses.

Err.. believed if there's any, its shd be quite visible to the naked eye under bright lighting conditions right?

just blow your hot breath over the lens...... any significant scratch should show up

You could detect/see a scratch on a lens in a photo, depending on how clearly the photo shows the scratch.

Strange question.

If its because you're buying a lens you can always get the seller to send you shots made with the lens. But he can always cheat you by using another flawless lens. You can take photos of the lens, but you'll never know if it was the same lens or that the scratch will even show up on the photo.
