Camera Settings for Bright Lit Background

Hi,
To confirm the steps to take of the above:
1. Select 'Spot Metering'.
2. Aim the center circle on the subject or background (depending flash or not).
3. Half press shutter to focus.
4. Pan to the subject.
5. Trigger.

hi,
if u don't refocus between steps 3 & 4, the cam will lock focus on the background.
after step 3, why don't u use AE lock to get locked the background exposure and then use the fill flash to have the main subject properly lit between step 4 & 5.

Using the AE lock is the only way to lock the exposure, otherwise once you point to somewhere else, the exposure reading will be reset
