Hi, I did a search but couldn't find any thread on Cambodia except for 1 posting of some photographs taken in Cambodia.

Planning to go in Nov for 4 days. Any good tips on where to visit and how to go about visiting such places? Thinking of not having a guide as I am not into listening to the history but more appreciation of the place.

Also don't want to be too focus on just temples but a mixture of other sightseeing, their people and culture. Any useful links will also help.

Weather is best in nov dec ..less rain compared to rainy season which end sep oct... But nov dec is peak season so a lot of people ... Personally I prefer mid to end oct ...

Angkor Wat is a must visit place. So can I simply take a cab there and pay for the entrance fee. Then get a cab to go back to my hotel easily? I don't need a guide because I want to have my own leisure timing and can decide when to leave.

Understand you need 2 days for Angkor Wat alone, true?

I think Angkor Wat 2 days may not be enough. There is Angkor Wat itself, then Angkor Thom, Bayon, Ta Prohm, Banteay Srei, Beng Melea and Preah Vihear temples. For non-temple, there are the river tours Kampong Phluk and Kampong Kleang. If interested in nature, Phnom Kulen has some interesting locations. I do recommend a guide if you are interested in good locations for photos and also in avoiding crowds at temples. Lots of mainland Chinese tourists.

My wife was a inbound tour specialist so if you want some good information pls pm me.

Four days is not enough in Cambodia so it will really depend on what you prime interest is.

I recommend getting a guide as a guide good guide can get you close and intimate with the people there ... And tell u abit of the history ... Hotel depends even a 30 used per night hotel can be very decent ....

Lots to see in Siam reap ... Tones of temples which will make u feel that u r back to ancient time ....
Lots of people to photograph .... U can do some mountain climbing to the river with thousand Linga ... Go thorm sap lake to photograph the people there ... Children rowing their wooden tubs to school ....

My fav hotel in SR Neth Socheta, 3 mins walk to Pub street, a must visit for night photo
#10, St. 2 Thou, Mondol 1, Krong Siem Reap,
Asked for Balcony room, only 3 rooms with balcony, prices is the same as non Balcony room.

Angkok Wat, checked with the NS hotel, they know which Tuk Tuks are safe and reliable.
There should be NO add charges by the hotel for arraning the Angkor Wat trip.


Other interesting places in SR to visit is the Cambodia Land Mines museum, 25 km north of Siem Reap (30 minutes by tuk tuk)
Angkor Panorama Museum Road 60, Sangkat Slorkram, Siem Reap, built by the famous North Korean Mansudae Art Studio.

To avoid, Floating Village at Tonlee Sap, tourist trap, you are asked to buy 20kgs Rice @ USD50/bag or Carton of Instant noodles USD20/carton
for the Orphange, all are SCAM. If you must visit, tell the Boat man you already bought some gifts.

I will suggest to get a driver/guide ... Reason is if u want to take people photo ..it would be good to have someone to communicate with them

Generally Cambodians are very gentle people. Of course do say thank you and look at them for body expression if they are OK before taking a shot. Sharing some photos over at the gallery section
