Hi synapseman,

Don't get me wrong. i am not out to spike you but I am really a fan of artfully blurred pictures. If you have the creativity to do it artfully and it looks good and interesting (at least to me), I don't really care what the others will say anymore.

Yo Andy, no offense taken (because I know you don't mean it). Everybody has a different set of opinions and it's good to hear them for different perspectives.

And yes, it IS important to remain true to your own style. If you're a blurry-photo specialist, so be it! :)

Cheers brother,

I admire your cool minded thinking. Happy shooting...

National Geographic has a number of such blurry ones, I believe...

I have seen some of such photos by their photographers too. But they r usually using 2nd curtain sync with a slow shutter. So there is always a static subject at the end of the motion trail effect to lead the eyes onto.

I thought blur photos are cool? I meant, it's quite subjective, it's either you love it or hate it. Whenever I took outdoor session photos for couples, and I did some blur photos, usually the couples will like it. The problem is, their parents or elderly don't like it. I used to have uncles and aunites asking me why this photos blur and that photos blur ... during the photo selection stage. So taking sharp photo is still the safest bet.

Of course, 1 way out of a bad situation of producing a blur photo is to argue till the cows come home, that the blurred photo is actually intentionally and it's called Art! Something like;
"Hello! this is not blur OK?! It's Art! It's the rage of the moment! Oh you ingorant fool, can't you tell Art from blurred photo?":D

"are all painfully sharp images beautiful?"

i got doubts bout all sharp photos are pretty.

"are all blur photos art?"

if ur photos are blur always...think send ur camera for repair...or take a vacation. :)

What bout lomography? Not all think its arty, some think it's juz great. I think it's harder to shoot without looking and get something really nice then plan & plan and shoot crap.
:)

Each has its own view. :)
