There comes a time when everyone makes his journey on a foot that he thinks is right. And eventually comes a time when he hits a crossroad of some sort.

For those who are newbies like myself, started ur hobby into photography for over a year, have u hit the crossroad where u feel that u have to make a stand between digital & film in ur hobby?

I feel that I'll hit this crossroad pretty soon for I can see the junction sign liaoz.

I still have my SLR when I started shooting film, was a bit fanboy'ed with film for a while, shooting b/w, slides exclusively.

After a while, the satisfaction just isn't there anymore, I kept to digital mostly, my F80 still in my cupboard. Probably will keep it till it disintegrates

I see film as a complement to digital. DSLR for normal daily shooting, no need to worry about costs, and film SLR for more specialist shooting, in my case for slides and wider angle view.

I would argue that optoelectronics/photochemistry and analogue/digital are just different vehicles to do the same thing. The only "crossroads" I can think of were large investments specific to one side, e.g. building up a full-blown traditional darkroom, as money limitations may prevent one from pursuing both ways. Apart from that, I don't see why one ever would have to give up one side in favor of the other - as long as the interest is in photography, not in a specific photographic technology.

I feel that nowadays ppl are more or less over-whelmed by technology.

Photography is a form of art....Does it matters on what equipments u used?

on a serious note, like it or not, digital is the future. took me a long time to cross over. and
since i can't give up film totally, i got both. slr n dslr. although i hardly shoot films now a
days, i still keep my film cam... wanna be reminded of my humble beginings...
pls note.... i'm not trying to say i'm famous now ah..:nono:
