Hi,

I'm using a 40D.
Can i know how to set to have a burst of 6.5fps and up to 75f? :dunno:

Thanks

What are your current settings, and did you read the manual?

Use JPG and... Press the shutter? :bsmilie:

Your shutter speed also affects the shooting speed..

Switch to Hi-Speed Continuous drive mode.
Use a reasonably fast CF card.
Shutter speed should be 1/500s and above to get > 6fps (according to dpreview.com).
Use JPEG format.
Turn off High ISO Noise Reduction.
Turn off Highlight Tone Priority.

BTW, the practical hi-speed continuous frame rate is about 6.3 fps rather than the stated 6.5 fps, according to dpreview.com.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, i have set all to the setting as mention.

The link below show the 40D continously shot without lagging, but mine during the first few shots, it is really fast, but after a few shooting, it will be lagging to a speed of 1-2 fps.
Do you encounter this or any idea what happen to my camera?
I'm using a CFII card, is the card the main cause?
What's the reasonable CF card you refering?

still sound like "High ISO noise reduction" had turn on to me.

when you thru the viewfinder, whats the number at the right end, just beside the focus indicator?

It's the detected lens opening that is in use....(?) perhaps...;)

Are you shooting JPEG, or RAW / RAW + JPEG? RAW fills up buffer much faster.

Which AF mode are you in?

hmm i think battery grip needed too..

It doesn't work the same way as the Nikon D300, it does not need a battery grip to shoot at max rate.

Yup... CF II is slowing you down... Use CF Extreme III or above...
I tested when I first bought the 40D with the free CF given...then bought myself CF Extreme III to compare...
Much difference !

I can only see 6 beside the focus indicator under Aperture Priority Mode and Shutter priority mode. But under the basic mode sports mode, i can see it increase to 60.

in that case, its almost certainly you had turn on "High ISO Speed noise reduction". try changing the setting if you don't know which way is on/off.

btw, high speed CF only come into play when the buffer had filled up. the max burst indicator shown how many shot the camera can hold in its buffer. the High ISO NR severely limit this as the buffer/RAM is used for holding processing data instead.
