24-70 vs 24-105

As i mentioned in the other thread. Following are key deciding factors.

1. Price difference of around $500
2. Weight difference
3. IS Vs Non IS
4. f/2.8 Vs f/4
5. 70mm vs 105 mm
6. Hood shape

What may be the most important factor for you may be of least concern to me. Decide based on your personal preferences.
IQ of both the lenses are similar, any difference I will attribute to SAMPLE VARIANCE.

currently my set up is 17-40, 50 f1.8, 70-200 f4 IS. am thinking of getting either 24-70 or 24-105 + 50 f1.4. which is a better option? using 7D and generally shoot portraits, wedding and events. any bro can help me solve this dilemma?

and you will gain muscles on right arm ;).

if u gain muscles on ur right arm,
then u r holding ur camera wrongly.

owned both before.
just for the design of the hood itself,
24-70 gets my vote.
i shoot against light often, i need a good shield.

the wide end being the same, 24mm,
is a good guide to their difference.
unless TS is using a crop sensor,
the control in distortion is one reason why i dislike the 24-105.
but its a small price to pay if ones need a longer reach.

Ya...good summary.. , i still find f/2.8 not a 'significant' advantage over f/4 considering the extra weight.

Technically you should compare f/2.8 Non IS with f/4 with IS
