wah! Hurrah! I found someone who isn't aware of the Big Stopper!
It seems to be all the craze at the moment. Lee Filters can't seem to make 'em fast enough... hahaha.

10 stop slot-in 100x100, so far I've only heard that Lee and Hitech make it.
Read reviews that complained about colour cast from earlier versions of the Hitech one, but 'apparently' it has been mitigated/resolved in recent batches.

I guess: Lee's the way to go

Perhaps the reject rate is high.
They've also cornered a niche part of the market, so could be maximising profits...

I kinda found out that hitech's 10 stop filter has horrible IR magenta cast... And I thought hitech were good enough..

That was the older 10 stop Hitech. The new Hitech pro series 10 stop filter has already fixed that problem.

Any holder that fits 100mm filters will work. But for filters like lee big stopper or Hitech pro 10 stop, you need to make sure that there will be no light leaks.

10 stops exposure are very long and high chance of light leaks from the sides. B+W ND110 will prevents all this problems since they are thread sealed.

Yeah but some people require the slot-in 10-stop filters for convenience sake. It allows you to move the filter away quickly and easily when you recompose.
Also they may have already set up the filter holder for use with GNDs etc.

Thread high density nd filters also have their down side especially when using it with gnd filters. You cannot really see anything through the viewfinder or live view when it is on. And that makes it next to impossible to compose a scene after it is on, and/or when you want to adjust a gnd properly. One cam remove all filters when composing, but it will become a huge hassle if you have another filter holder infront of the nd110.

Slotted 10 stop filters like big stopper and Hitech pro 10 stop filters comes with foam gaskets on the edges, so when used with the right filter holders properly will eliminate light leaks as well.

It's not a big secret, they are selling at $200. Might consider to sell off my B+W nd110 to get this.
