Thanks for the comments guy. The photos were taken under natural light (strong midday sun) in an open field. It was pretty hot but the shots were worth it :D

TS also started a similar thread in another local forum and it's been pointed out that it's CNN who cropped the photo, not SDP. Below is a screen shot on SDP website clearly showing the photographer's watermark.

The same can be said for 50D when it first came out, that camera was slammed too. But now everyone seems to love that cam.
