In NZ. For some reasons the allocated numbers are small so they are flying off the shelves. Funny thing is, ⅔ of the people buying are the Japanese.

Believe it or not, the local camera store where I am is already taking orders 3 batches in advance. Talk about flying off the shelves. My order, if placed, can only be fulfilled before Christmas. At the meantime I am not looking for an ultra wide so I am waiting for the white hot prices to cool...

I suspect that is why the new Panasonic 100-400mm is Leica branded.

100mm more than the coming Olympus Pro 300 prime lens... interesting. Hope the IQ is going to be close to the 300mm. If so, it will be a no brainer.

Hope the camera is out soon to Asia (B&H list as 16 August 2015). Itching to buy a Panasonic camera to go with the Panasonic Trinity that I have. The CA on their lenses when shot on non-Panny bodies is driving me mad.

Cheaper to buy in Beijing/Shanghai/Guangzhou if you ply the Taobao stores. HK prices have bloated since the hikes in rentals.

It is just a typical "scam". While you might get your lens eventually, but the thing is, with fanboys, they forgot that they are pretty much parking money with the retailers for months, so they can use your pre-order money for cashflow. If something goes wrong, then it is bye bye money.

Details on this new lens is pretty impressive. Clearly shows two kinds of steel on two cooking knives from Germany and Japan, and the wood block that it is holding them together. In "pseudo-macro" mode.

Cheap. Or rather, cheapest in its class. Any other system that can produce such level of image quality/ hardware quality would cost more. Granted m4/3 is not perfect, but when it does what it does best, it leaves the competition in the dust. Olympus is not called "Leica of the East" by Leica...
