Thought Nikon body only comes with local warranty? If so, may not be worth the small saving buying D700 outside your home country.

Just want to say that altho dpreview is a good site, I think useful to bear in mind that their measurements are not always accurate. If I remember correctly, you will find that they measured the D300 as having higher DR than the D700, when in fact it is the other way round.

There are clearly 2 schools of thought on this topic and will likely remain so... :) Personally, I like to protect the front element with a filter. I noticed that the best filters (B+W MRC UV) take away nothing from the image, whereas some of the lesser ones leave a very slight colour cast...

Yeah, the technology is improving rapidly, but i feel that some users have gotten lazy and expect the technology to do everything for them. Nice pictures don't just emerge by themselves. Pardon my saying so, but there is such a lot of high resolution junk out there... :)
