Verge of quitting photography. HELP :(

Hey TS. I'm currently a year one polytechnic student. I understand what you are feeling through right now. My parents were initially a little apprehensive about me picking up photography as a hobby, but I showed them I could manage my studies and my hobby at the same time, I could leave my...

Camera Lens Cleaner = LCD Screen cleaner ?

There's two parts to a lens pen. The brush and the dry cleaning tip, which works very well for fingerprints etc, and there's no need to deal with streaks of leftover cleaning fluid, saving lots of time. I got mine @ orient for 10 dollars only:)

    Individual Folders On A Canon

Hello all. I have a friend who's using A D90, it automatically creates folders for each day as he shoots, like JPN01, JPN02 etc..... would it be possible to "force" my cam to do the same too? instead of creating a huge folder "101canon" ?

Lens in cold weather - Genting Highland

Don't worry TS, I was one of the official photographers for my poly's japan student exchange trip. The place I went to was Kumamoto, the temp was around 14-20 degrees. I woke up every morning to find condensation on my gear every morning( cold weather+ strong aircon:bsmilie:) I simply had no...

    Headache Over Battery Chargers

I currently have 2 sets of batteries for my flash, namely, the eneloops and the imedions. I'm currently using an energizer charger, from what I have read in this forum and elsewhere, it seems to be timer based. So i have two options, 1, run down the batteries to flat, and then charge it. 2...

    Jumpshots At Night

Yup...that's what I was thinking...I did some research too...omnibounce only works when there's a surface to bounce from right? haha...no need large bounce card lar..very bulky to bring. I just make do with what I can find there. Possible to use styrofoam?

    Jumpshots At Night

My friends and I would be having a BBQ soon. I would be bringing my flash, 18-55(including tripod). The camera would be triggered by the wireless remote(phottix). I'm prepared to bump ISO up to 1600 for acceptable pictures. Any ideal ideas on what settings to use? Should I use f8 or more to keep...

Pairing up the 550d with another lens

The 50mm f1.8 is one hell of a lens, it's cheap and I must say the IQ is excellent when stopped down to f2.8. Here is one that I had done with the 50mm stopped down to f2.8, with a 580EXII bounced, in the airport foodcourt. My skills not up there yet, but if you want to take shoots of...

Close Up Filters on 50MM F1.8

I find the 50mm very sharp when stopped down to F2.8, have anyone tried to mount close up filters on it? I am aware it will not produce true macro photos (1:1), or as sharp a dedicated macro lens. So what you guys think? Any brands to recommend?

Fast lenses vs flash for indoors

Later wallet also clean-ed:p Anyway to TS, fast lenses may not be useful in some situations, like group photos, even F1.4 also no use, the depth of field is too shallow unless you only want to keep one in two person in focus. 2nd, weight, the 70-200 I'm using is f4, there's a f2.8 one...

What type of bag system is good to carry these stuff

You might want to try Lowepro Stealth Reporter D300AW/D400AW, I'm using one and it holds my gear comfortably with room to spare. As for belt system, if you shoot events regularly, it would be faster to change lenses etc.

    Lens Protector?

It's called a Filter. You can try the Marumi , hoya, and kenko. These are not bad. I don't use a lens hood, as I find it troublesome to mount and reverse mount, and I normally don't replace the lens cap till the end of the day. Most of my friends are like that, so a filter is essential...
