Nikon D500

the showroom and svc centre is literally beside me... like a 1 min walk... no issue for me hahaha

I wanna order and pay now, no one wanna take my $.... Don't mind paying in full just to get it asap

Why need so soon ?

I would wait and see what faults appear first.... Nikon is famous for it. lol

D600 = made in thailand
D750 = made in thailand

D5 made in Japan. Quite safe.

Maybe not so much better image quality but for any teething problems to be sorted out and pre-fixed before they are even shipped to the consumers.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

This camera probably made at Sendai...camera comes no problems I bet.

Funny to still see people who tie quality to country of manufacture...

D4 and D800 had issues... made in japan.... D7200 came out no issues... made in thailand...

IMHO, no correlation whatsoever.

IF given the option I'd prefer Japan made but yeah no choice... buy the tool you need not where its made.

Sometime I wonder how sensitive and logically real to hold this belief all these many years. The technology for making the lens in Thailand for example are owned, planned and production are monitored by Nikon Japan and their technical professional. The choice of material and other configurations are by them too. The key reason they choose to make selected lens for example is to bring the price down to something more people can buy them and also if the quality of using those non-japan made is so bad, it also effects their overall Nikon reputation.

So.. what are we saying? Thai people or China people or who ever are not good enough to put together your equipment like a Japanese could? I have used many Japan and Thai or China made and have never had a issue about them. It's all in your mind....more times I let down the equipment I use then the equipment let me down or failed me.

Just a thought.

I admit, it's not a good argument. Technology has advanced to such a stage where location does not matter.

Then again, we are talking about two different things. Most of what you speak is not a manufacturing issue, rather what happened with most are usually design decisions. So whether made on the moon or in Singapore, it holds no bearing.

I will be more precise to say that nikon d5 or d500 feels like incremental improvement to what is standard tech. There is no super new or crazy tech that will cause such a thing. It's not like it's a 100 mp fx sensor or that it's autofocus is totally revolutionary.

I skipped d4s... Waiting for this.

Back to the "made in where" issue. With everything said, if this issue is irrelevant, then why would we silly humans still pay top dollar for cars made in Europe? Or German stuff? Would you buy milk powder made in certain countries?

Could be that we humans just want assurance and peace of mind.

Or... That even with improved technology it is the people employed who make a difference. Why would company pay top dollar to setup in Singapore and pay much more wages than other countries around the area?

Ah may make no difference if not now certainly in the near future in regard to where models were produced. Any new camera can have some bugs I suppose. Still I prefer my MIJ stuff although my Thailand stuff has performed just as flawlessly as any of it. :)

Because humans are humans. Perception rules buying habits. And perception is not fact.

Best toyotas made in the world is not japan, but the ontario plant.

For many years, Hyundais made in beijing plant are much better than the ones made in korea.

Jaguars had average 400+ defects when run by the british. Toyotas average 40+ defects per car during the same period. Jaguars now are much better made, and now one of the major owners is Chery auto....

Guess who got a huge stake in volvo recently? Geely...

Brand equity and quality are two separate issues. One may affect the other over time but they remain separate.

Quality is ruled by material selection, product design, line design, process control. Not how much money customer spends to buy the product nor the actual location where the product is made.

If design got problem, why is it not quality issue? Funny.

But you are free to believe what you want to believe... after all you are the consumer.

I know it is OT but for the record my made in SG Shimano fishing reel is WAY better than my MIJ Shimano fishing reel. Superior QC maybe??? :)
