Nikon D5 spec out!

I went to Pre-Order D5 today. Knowing there are 2 Version will be in the market. Will you get the XQD Card Ver. or the CF card Ver. ? Can Share You View ? Thanks

Theoretically, XQD. Speed of camera is dependent on speed of card, when clearing buffer, when camera is pushed to the limit, maximum benefit. Also, buy $8k camera and save $200 on card, doesn't make sense.

Practically, I am unlikely to ever get close to pushing the camera to the limit.

Also practically, I am unlikely to want to buy this camera... thinking about the D500 though.

I like the XQD on my D4 given it's speed. But you do know if you want to change from CF to XQD, you can if for some reason you regret doing it. You can bring it to the service centre to have the card module switched out. But you have to pay for it for sure heh.. so best to make your mind in advance.

WHY even pre-order when you don't know which you want.... research your needs first... buy later.

I am a Nikon fan but Canon 1Dx2 makes me want to jump ship. Am disappointed w D5 leh

Looks to me that both Nikon and Canon are not out to direct compete against one another for the pro body D5 and 1Dx2. Both cameras has their own pros and cons and it is not worth for either camp to jump ship IMO.

I actually feel the two new flagships are as closely specced as they've been for years.
But funnily I'm arriving at the same conclusion that there won't be much justification for switching, because they are so closely specced and are in direct competition and will likely perform similarly well.

Totally agree!

I'd rather they have a D5 with video and another version without video - so that the latter is cheaper. XQD or CF doesn't matter to me, I don't need the speed, 53RAWs on the XQD on my D4 is already sufficient.
