I'm considering signing up to one of the model photoshoots but just noticed the Caveat Emptor message on the forum... did get me slightly paranoid, what exactly has happened in the past for this kind of message to be required?

Has anyone been on one of the model shoots and can give me more info/advice/set expectations?

I guess you have not posted any thread in personal classified section before.

so you are looking for guarantee? if so, please approach the model photoshot organizers to ask for assurance on their shoots.

Thanks - however I was more hoping for the advice from someone who had been with a particular organizer before and could give a recommendation perhaps?

FYI, as Asian people, we only talk goods about people in our culture, so if you would to go around and ask anyone, all will say Good Good Good, more over, they hardly know you personally. So do these comments help you in anyway?

unlikely you will see anyone post neutral or negative comments publicly, beside, all the photoshoot organizers are our advertisers here, who will want to risk themselves for being blacklisted or given cold shoulder treatment by organizers from joining their shoots?

So, just go ahead and join any shoots you find it interesting, take it as paying tuition fee and learn from there, you will meet people and make some friends, than you will get more friendly advice when they know more about you.

The Caveat Emptor message has the same background as with other sections here, eg. Buy & Sell. Make sure you know exactly what is provided, do not make any assumptions or create hopes of what might happen. Clarify with the organizer if you have questions. There must be a clear "Yes/No" answer as to what is included and delivered.
Example: postings states that there is a model, some lighting setup. That could mean that you have to manage / direct the model, setup the light and arrange everything by yourself. If you don't know what to do, you could hope somebody else will know and you just snap along with the others. Whether this is meaningful to you - your call. If in doubt, clarify.
In other words: organizers are facilitators of an event, bringing together people, model, location, equipment. Unless it's stated, that does not mean they are photographers. For some people that's fine, others might want to get more guidance, teaching. So you need to decide what you want / need from such a photo shoot. For more guidance you might want to check the section just above the Photo Shoots: Workshops, Tutorials and Classes
And the results of other people used as references have nothing to do with what you might produce.

Hi may be you need edit your model photo. Do you use Photoshop programm? As for me I don't like it because of difficulty. I prefer to use online editor like loonapix.com. You may apply any effect and improve your own photo.Good luck!

Loonapix? I've heard so much about it. It's like the bee's knees of photo editing apparently. I heard all about it from this CSer who... Wait a min.... Ah.... I see what you did there....
