:bsmilie:

now that he speaks up, we know what the driver was doing to agitate the cyclist. and furthermore, people think that with an in-car camera, they can "prove" that they are right. too many people trying to turn things one-sided with "evidence"

it's only human to get angry. he lost his cool and hurled vulgarities, that's a given. and it's wrong for him to lose his temper.

but as a motorist who's been knocked down a few times, i know what it feels like when the driver isn't remorseful and just continues to insists that they have the right of way.
you just feel insulted and angry. for me it's an instantaneous anger that dies down quickly, but perhaps others are different.

and only once have i seen the guilty party apologizing (and he wasn't even a Singaporean).

for this kind of scenario, the cyclist (1) should not keep extreme left, he should just occupy the whole lane, car in front and back can see you easier. if needed to turn, signal.

as you can see in the video, because the cyclist was on the extreme left, this (2) give motorist a chance to cut you in. the driver also thought you are going to turn left.

the cyclist should stop, look back before going straight.

LOL.

(1) there are many people who complain that the cyclist should stick to the yellow line. and from the video, he doesn't appear to be hogging the extreme left

(2) the driver thinks you're trying to turn left into the lane? don't make excuses for the driver here. the driver obviously made and error in judgement in the quick left turn from the adjacent lane. do you have a driver's license in the first place? if you do, you would know not to cut off cyclists and motorcyclists in the first place and to keep a safe distance from them.

You think drivers are so f**king free to watch out not just for other cars, motorists, jaywalkers and NOW even cyclists, electric-bikers and a lot other ****?? These cyclist s(I'm referring to those irresponsible ones) think they own the road, pay road taxes?? WTH.

Yes, cyclists pay road taxes too. We all do, even those who don't own a car. Or have you been smoking the nonsense in HWZ EDMW too much?

Who wouldn't be angry after almost getting knocked down by a car?

I know i would.

I think Foxshade's point is that you have a lot of choices when you experience anger after almost getting knocked down by a car.

Anger is not an excuse for doing silly things like becoming He-Man or Hulk and banging angrily on people's car door. Two wrongs do not make a right. Or are you advocating that it's perfectly ok to drag the driver out and beat him up for almost knocking you down, because you're "angry"?

I think he's talking about this?

Of course it's debatable whether funding of road-related works/upgrading comes from the general tax pool. For that, you'd have to ask the authorities involved.

Following your link, the cyclist obeyed the laws.

it goes for this new video.

from the second video, at first he was deemed to have broken the law by road-hogging, until the cyclist confirmed that the driver who filmed it was harassing him by constantly honking the horn at him. why is honking the horn incessantly against the law? because it's deemed as road bullying and harassment. honking the horn constantly will distract other drivers and road users.

as for Wakaowalao, please go review your driving test and ask yourself if the way the two drivers behaved was taught in the driving school.

It does! Though usually all the people with cars think they own the roads and only they pay taxes to support the road maintenance.

Also, by law, you should only honk your horn as an emergency warning. Not as a "yo, I'm here, watch out" which is how it's used in PRC, Bangkok, India, Philippines and other 3rd-world countries.

So maybe it's a driver with a third-world mentality? Must beep beep honk honk because this car means I'm a bigger man than a cyclist?

i'm saying that at the split second, one might lose control. i'm not advocating that he beat up the driver, and neither did i say that it'll be right to. so don't put words in my mouth. ok, sempai?

he might have lost his cool at the moment, and almost getting into an accident probably triggered it. i'm not condoning it, but i'm just mentioning that it is a side-effect

Yes, and definitely more wrong for him to taunt the driver after that.

In any case the world will be a better place if we all just try to understand each other and give each other some space. For the Vivocity case I think the cyclist was clearly in the wrong. So the car should not have continuously horned him (as claimed by said cyclist) but there is no need for him to insist that he is right and taunt the car driver.

I don't know if anyone remembers this case, but I remember it because I thought it was a relatively sad way to go.

So what if the motorist at Vivocity had just experienced a fit of rage that Keneth can definitely understand? And just happily rammed into him? So the motorist would have gone to jail, Keneth would have died, is it all worth it? :)

Hello, I never say that you are saying that. Please read again. Don't say that I am putting words into your mouth when I haven't.

Let's take it from the start. Foxshade observed that the cyclist's actions were akin to road rage. Your response was simply that "everyone would be angry after being almost knocked down". I don't think it's an unfair conclusion that you MIGHT be saying that it's ok to commit road rage simply because you're angry.

If you don't think it's ok, just clarify that you did not mean that. It is as simple as that. Thanks.

How was he clearly in the wrong? He was on the left side of the outer turning lane, which is where he should be.

For Vivocity incident?

No, he was on the extreme right of the road. He thinks that he can move faster than fast-moving cars?

Every bicycle shall be ridden close to the left hand edge of the roadway and in such a manner as not to obstruct vehicles moving at a faster speed.

i will not argue anymore unless you are a cyclist and had been in this kind of situation before. please dont compare bicycle vs motorcycle, they are different.

you will understand better if you are a true cyclist and know when to hog left and when to hog the whole damn lane.

He should not be on the left side of the outer turning lane.
