Unsurprisingly most of my friends placed their bets on Set 3 to be a full-framer. Unfortunately for them I am $105 richer Yes. Set 3 is from the X-E1. The details & noise control is outstanding! My brief analysis of the three systems while I recover from a sore shoulder ..

Set 1: M9 - A thoroughbred with an analogue brain. High ISO is weak (think ISO 1600 film) and you get the picture. Grainy .. noisy .. but still useable to a certain extent. High lens dependency and extremely capable under the right condition. DNG files can be massaged for far better output.

Set 2: D600 - For those deciding between the X-E1 and D600: The RAW file from the D600 will blow the X-E1 away. The DR, highlights etc are all there waiting to be unleashed if you love to tinker. Coupled with tons of customization and add-ons the D600 is a different class altogether. Fast and accurate AF makes it suitable for a wide genre in a bulkier body.

Set 3: X-E1 - The X-E1 has a 'show hand' approach. The jpegs are pretty close to what you get from those processed from Silkypix. Prob 5% more? The details from jpegs are amazing. Loves to flaunt its ISO might with nicely rendered colors. However there are cases whereby details are lost with blown highlights with the aggressive use of high ISO. AF is reasonably fast in good lighting but it's no OMD. If you look carefully at the tree shots the DOF is also noticeably deeper (even when wide open f1.4) so not really for bokeh-lover.

The firmware is model specific so when X-E1 was released, it already has the latest firmware v. 1.0.

X Pro 1 v. 2.0 adopted most/all of the improvements of X-E1's firmware 1.0.

X Pro 1 owners can try X E 1 & will know what I mean.

X E 1 starts up slow and AF lock slower and hunts more. Just like when i had the X Pro 1' V1.0.

Yes, I used X100, X Pro 1 & XE1, all when it's first came out. So I was using old firmware and had em updated. And I can appreciate the difference in upgrade firmware.

You dun need to compare it technically. Try X E 1 for a short while & u should able to tell e difference.
And it's obviously slower.

1. Start up slower.
2. AF locking is slower
3. Hunts more
4. Noticeable less accurate AF.
Everything is kinda slower in XE1. Just like X100, X Pro 1 V1.0.

Yes yes... later will try... will be good if there IS a firmware update to further speed up the AF and lock better in low lights... not to mention able to set minimum shutter speed when set to A mode.

Are You using both XE1 & X Pro 1? Your information is based on experience or what you read online or elsewhere?

Duh? My lens was already updated on 19 Sep. The day all X pro 1 owners were waiting for the new firmware for both body & lens.

I am kinda puzzled with your suggestion that I had not updated the lens.
Doesn't makes sense that I updated the XPro body & not the lens right? Hahaha...

I dun tink the word "broken" is a correct term to use. Cause it is fully functioning.

I used X-E1 before then traded with XPro1 firmware 2, I felt the opposite, X-E1 has faster AF and AF locking faster compared to XPRO1. I also have alot of missed focus in XPRO1 maybe because I'm using the OVF every time as I read somewhere OVF is less accurate than EVF, and the resolution of the screen is higher than XE-1 so you could see it more clearly if it's missed focused when viewing in camera.
