Sounds a lot like what's happening in SG vs. the Chinese...

News from The Associated Press

I just wonder... If the Chinese are so anti-american, will they stop using american products like Intel/AMD CPUs, Apple devices, etc?

If many Singaporeans are so anti-PRC, will they stop using made in china products? Hmmmm

it's not really a problem.

it's the myopic views and paranoia of the original citizens. and usually, it's exacerbated by propaganda of those who are influential, and use it for their own personal gain

of course local will be angry, who wants a scholar who scold his sponsor 'DOG' ? maybe only you are benevolent

anti-PRC? no so simple. local also need to made a living. the companies in singapore wanted more profit and hire PRC. believe me, many jobs already filled up by PRC. sometimes i wonder what is left for the local

try calling aircon, bathroom accessories, curtain shop, likelihood is that you will get a PRC talking to you. even our famous local brand PD door, are all PRC.

they dont even know ABC, and telling them part no which have alpha-numeric is a pain too

so it could be a case of livelihood.. to say the least

Chances are, you would have to get off the chair you are on, take off your clothes, turn off your computer and throw it out of your window and just sit on the floor and hope that the laminated wood wasn't made in China. :bsmilie:

Oh, I fully understand. But sometimes the vile and vitriol spewed on online platforms is crazy. For example, if there's a report of a bus driver that got into an accident, it will have at least 10 pages of anti-PRC posts.

It's interesting to see similar sentiments (though expressed more openly instead of just online by keyboard warriors) in the "target" nation too. Seems like it's going both ways.

IIRC sometime in 2008 there was this American family that decided to not use anything made in China, kind of a protest against China during the run-up to the Beijing Olympics. They very quickly realized that it was impossibru.

BBC News - China fake parts 'used in US military equipment'

Vast numbers of counterfeit Chinese electronic parts are being used in US military equipment, a key Senate committee has reported.

A year-long probe found 1,800 cases of fake parts in US military aircraft, the Senate Armed Services Committee said.

More than 70% of an estimated one million suspect parts were traced back to China, the report said.

It blamed weaknesses in the US supply chain, and China's failure to curb the counterfeit market.

hence: Singaporeans' myopic view on world issues.

you don't even see how it applies to singapore?

I agree. I don't think in the near future you will see singaporeans rioting/having strikes on the streets showing their discontent for foreigners. we just like to rant on the internet.
