Anti-foreigner sentiments rising in China...

these days the favorite hobbies for couples to pass the time are

1) Online Gaming
2) Watching Movies
3) Working

Minor correction Item 3 should be Item 1

Wow! He's da-man. Don't suppose only one wife? :what:

2 wives.
I only know wife #1 (my grandma) had 12 girls, 5 boys = 17.
Wife #2 I never met but i heard its about the same number. can safely assume grand total = 30+ kids.

My mom quite resented her father for having so many kids. They weren't rich to begin with and every extra kid means even less for everyone.
But my grandma is quite proud of the fact that she was able to raise all the kids without giving any away (quite common back then to give away girls).

Girl and boy get together to make baby here. New born gets subsidy here, being local

Do you guys have any idea how much it costs to have a baby delivered here? Esp if you want proper gynae etc.

One of my son went for circumcision recently, total bill came up to over S$2K in Eastshore. Doc's fee was S$800 & the 1.5days bed+operation room over S$1.2K.

My friend does the same thing but in his Ipoh clinic for RM300......

This is an example. Many of us wants "proper gynae". Wants A class ward. Wants Private Hospital. Want top pre-school. That's why we can hardly afford many kids.

I sent my son for circumsion at local GP for $120. You crazy go Eastshore with $2k bill.

Actually we can have more than 1-2 kids and can still afford to send each and every one of them to Uni but does not want to let go some of the luxury of life.

Remember, sending your only child to the best of the best school not necessarily he/she end up a scholar. For me personally, I want my children to grow up to be a kind, respectful and helpful adults. Whether they end up getting a doctorate is up to them, as parents I'll encourage them until as far as they can go.

Buy, Prepare and Eat home-cooked meal, spent less or no holiday for a year or two, take public transport, etc. These are lifestyles that many of us don't want to do.

I see we like to complain (singaporeans) about high cost of living but we should look at ourselves. I wonder if this is the reason why they hire FT - we demand good wages. It a vicious circle.....lol

actually saw this interesting statistic in the papers recently... PRC have almost the same number of foreigners living there as Singapore (~1million). Only difference is China has 1.2billion citizens while we have ~3plus million. So all things considered Singaporeans on the whole are quite tolerant of foreigners. Only recent trends of exorbitant housing, public transport fiascos have pushed some ppl over the edge.

Either that or most Singaporeans are cowards, only dare to rant & rave in online forums agst foreigners but when minister come around "all is fine dear minister!" :bsmilie:

I guess the wealthier the people of a country become, their demands become higher, even if it might seem somewhat irrational.
Suddenly KK isn't good enough must go Mount-A.
My ex-colleague is sending her kid to Eton House cos suddenly your neighbourhood govt-kindie isn't good enough, and the list goes on.

If you don't mind me asking sir/ma'am, is it illegal to stage a rally here in SG or is there some kind of a "ban" on public protest? Usually in other countries, when citizens have complains and frustrations in their gov't, they go out and rally to express themselves. It's the very essence of democracy. Well even in those non-democratic countries, the citizens still rally against their gov't. I haven't seen that here in SG, or it's happening but not broadcasted in the news?

I'm just curious.

It was all about choice.....

Some people married....some people single...
Some people stay private....some people stay HDB...
Some people drive.....some people being driven...
Some people eat out....some people eat home cook...
Some people go tour oversea....some people go tour Singapore Zoo and Sentosa....
Some people want more kids....some people want less or totally no kid....
Some people send kids to montesorry....some people can send to void deck kindergarder
Some people die die must see specialist....some people just go any GP or Polyclinic
Some people send there childre to branded school or even overseas....some can settle for local colledge..

Who is right and who is wrong? It can argue until cow come home still no conclusion....

That's not democracy. Since when does democracy equate to having rallies amd demonstrations

Sure it does not really necessary equate to democracy as a whole, I stand corrected then. I really didn't mean that DEMOCRACY = PROTEST :)

Well, I guess people from different people have different views on democracy, let us not touch on that broad topic.
Demonstrations and rallies are also another way for people express their frustrations. On some occasions, it has been a tool for the greater good. Although nowadays, most of it has lost it's purpose.

I was just asking if it's allowed here and if there were occasions that citizens have done it before.
