1. In what area is critique to be sought?

Appreciate as much feedback as possible especially on composition, colours,white balance,focal point etc.

2. What one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?

Trying to explore using lines to enhance my photo

3. Under what circumstance is the picture taken? (physical conditions/emotions)

Our group were going to leave the beach and i was one of the few at the front of the pack.Image was captured using my compact cam.

4. What the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture

Managed to draw me to the focal point.Quite acceptable.

i guess his friend up the stairs is the focal point? But its quite a weak focal point cos of what he is wearing (clothing color blended into the staircase) and i think it is also a bit OOF.

here's a similar snapshot i took but i think this snapshot of mine stronger cos at least the color of the subject (a dog) is more visible.

The thread title also dun match with the photo cos i only see a staircase with his friend further up. I don't see any beaches at yeppoon.

One thing to improve on is to make the verticals vertical unless it is tilted purposely for creative angles/ composition.

Can try going down even lower and shoot up, place more emphasis on the stairs in landscape mode unless the sky something you want to capture too. Don't know how to explain but try make the sides of the stairs to be a pair of converging lines.

It might be nicer if the person there is sitting there posing or something....make the focal pt more "attractive".

Tq for all e feedbacks.The title does need correction.The focal point here is my friend and i muz say this is a casual shot without any prep for posing.I do agree that if taken in landscape mode,the overall perspective will be better.

another one that can be improved on besides the verticals are also the horizontals. rotate ur image so that the horizons are straight and will make for a stronger image. you have an image that has strong lines, if not for the tree at the end of the stairs, it will make a good long exposure black and white shot with strong contrast as well
