Hi All,

Am organizing a sunrise shoot on Sunday, 29th May 2011.

Details:

Date: Sunday, 29th May 2011
Time: 0630hrs onwards (earlier better, Merlion starts 'vomiting' at 0630hrs)
Theme: Sunrise & Cityscape
Equipment: Camera (any kind), Tripod (essential for shots in the dark)
Optional: Hydration essentials, caps/hats
Meeting Point: Merlion Park
After shoot, we will head for breakfast.

Hi dingaroo, you might have not aware, but according to these news site below, Merlion will only be available on 6th June onwards, apologies if this information is inaccurate or you're not going to shoot Merlion:

Wow, I put up yesterday afternoon, it's already full today ... but I definitely know that there may be one or two who may not be able to make it.

Appreciate if you could update us or me so we can still make room for the others who are keen.

Your cooperation is much appreciated, and also, for those who signed up and can't make it, don't feel bad, there's always another time :)

Ding

Thanks for the info buddy!

Anyway, there's more than just the Merlion to shoot at. In fact, we have the skyline facing the Merlion as well as what's behind it. And if you don't like, can shoot the tourists who come looking for the Merlion, but goes away disappointed ... hehehehe. And to post to National Arts Council the concept of boxing up the Merlion was really stupid. (Didn't understand it in the first place, but hey, it's art, and I'm not arts/liberal arts trained.)

Hope to see you all on Sunday!

Cheers!

Your questions will be answered, hopefully, in the email that I will send out to all tomorrow.

Won't be a regimented curriculum thing, but will share pointers that I have picked up over the years :)

Hope that will put you at ease ... else we can appoint you as 'leader'!

Cheers!

Truthfully, as long as it helps you to bond with your dad, I don't mind him tagging along! Hopefully he doesn't whip out a medium format camera and start shooting! Just kidding, by all means, bring him along!

My aim is to not only meet people, but also learn new things along the way too!

Cheers!

Alan Ng : I stay at Yishun , and I hv transport.. Any friend want to go with me?

bro dingaroo, the list is already full now.

Would you like me to come down and help out?

Couple of questions since it's my first outing :)

1) Do we all meetup at a specified location? Or have a "leader" hehe
2) Is there some guidelines and help to take photos for newbies like myself?

Or is it just go there, OTOT take photos and go home?

I think the meet-up location is Merlion Park itself.
You may certainly bring your dad along :) It is a public place. We have no right to stop you :)
If you are totally feeling blur, don't be afraid to ask for some assistance. Of course must be considerate as well; if the guy/gal looks to be deep in concentration, don't disturb.
It is not a professionally-conducted course, so don't expect undivided attention and perfect answers :)

Folks, think of it this way. You get to photograph the lion fish anytime in the year but when was the last time you saw it covered up? Your photograph would well become a talking piece 20 years later.

Sometimes, photography is not about finding that perfect scene but rather what you can do with things you see. Every opportunity is an opportunity to create something great. If you don't try, you never find out.

Well said! It just like travel photography. You dun always get ur dream shot but still you manage to walk away with a shot of a lifetime!

Singapore is the best practice ground.

Cheers!

Haha, thanks guys…
I've done a few night shots at MBS..but never in the morning..so want to try it out…i am horrible at taking first light or last light…don't seem to get the colours or the exposure right…night shots are easy most of the time :)

Will bring my dad along..don't worry, no medium format…he's even newer than me in this….and well, still learning how to use his D7000 and me being a Canon user, i have no idea how to use a Nikon haha..

See you guys Sunday..

For this coming Sunday May 29 session, morning twilight will be 6:08am and morning sunrise will be 6:56am.
