Read the link Octarine posted. There are lots of models in your target price range, some with more features, some with less. You need to make up your own mind, it's your money.

$1000 is pretty ok for a beginner dslr. Don't just go for the brand, look at the features. Usually the most popular brands have the least features on their beginner dslrs

errr.. i decided to buy 1100D coz I thought canon would have good entry level camera...:embrass: .. so which brand is actually recommended for entry level??
Have you read the DPreview review? Even they recommend looking at other brands as well. In the price category of the 1100D, Nikon, Sony and Pentax offer much more "bang for the buck" and even more features.

Pentax K-r is pretty good, so is the Sony A33

There's nothing wrong with the 1100D - it *is* a good entry-level camera - just that for the $$$ you can get much better features elsewhere.

are you referring to the lens? so for k-r the packaged lens already has the AF motor?
lol I was planning to, just that after the treatment aat alan I went to ask around at other shops and got scared with the price getting lower and lower at each shop I ask lol..

competition at the entry level is so intense that pricing and specification are more or less similar. An important point to note when buying DSLR is that you are not merely buying a DSLR, but essentially buying into an entire system; which have different level of peer and professional support.
