Rafa sacked rumours: Moratti refuses to comment

Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is expected to be sacked as Inter Milan coach today after club president Massimo Moratti refused to deny rumours of his firing.

Benitez used the post-match press conference following Inter's Club World Cup win to call for new signings and threaten to contact his agent if they were not forthcoming.

Moratti, who called the comments "inappropriate" on Sunday, would say only today: "I prefer not to talk to avoid the risk of creating controversies."

Zenit St Petersburg coach Luciano Spalletti is the favourite to take over the World, European and Italian champions if Benitez goes after just six months in the job.

WAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! RH outlasted him!!!

Inter Set To Oust Rafael Benitez With Zenit St. Petersburg Coach Luciano Spalletti The Favourite To Replace Him - Report

Rafa Benitez is set to be replaced at Inter following the Club World Club win, with Zenit coach Luciano Spalletti the no.1 target.

Italian reports suggest that Rafa Benitez may have turned the key to his own exit following the Inter coach's rant minutes after the Nerazzurri had won the FIFA Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi.

The former Liverpool leader appears to have lost his way and the support of his key players in the dressing room, and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, club president Massimo Moratti can wait no longer.

Moratti has been neither here nor there on giving a definite statement regarding the future of his current coach, fanning the flames of suggestions that Benitez will not be given the backing which he demanded, if he will remain in the San Siro hotseat.

The president has reportedly turned his attention to current Zenit St. Petersburg coach Luciano Spalletti, who took the Golubye to the Russian title in the 2010 season. However, a back-up to the Italian is believed to be former Milan tactician Leonardo.

Inter's technical director Marco Branca is thought to be trying to pull the strings to secure the services of Spalletti, especially with the Zenit coach being currently in Italy from a Christmas holiday.

yeah, i was going to say that this board will not agree with RB
His youth policy and youth signings quite CMI, definitely not what the board wants to see.

if RH really made to leave, I think we really need King Kenny to come in to steady the ship

REDS` TRIP TO SEASIDERS IN DOUBT
Posted 20/12/10 11:50

Liverpool's Boxing Day clash with Blackpool is already an early doubt because of the freezing conditions.

The Reds had their home game against Fulham postponed on Saturday because of the heavy snow which fell in the north-west, and now there is a chance the trip to Bloomfield Road could also fall victim to the elements.

The Premier League newcomers do not have undersoil heating and have already had two matches postponed because of adverse weather.

Blackpool are currently in discussions with the Premier League about procedures ahead of Sunday's match.

"We can almost certainly guarantee the pitch will be playable but it is the prevailing conditions once the covers have been removed and whether the pitch will freeze before the end of the game taking place," chairman Karl Oyston told Sky Sports News.

"That is one we are talking to the Premier League about to see what their standpoint and inspection protocol will be."

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston says undersoil heating is "not a financial consideration".

The Seasiders' clashes with Manchester United and Tottenham at Bloomfield Road - both of which were to be televised - had to be called off due to freezing conditions, but Oyston has stressed there are no immediate plans to address the problem by installing a new heating system beneath the pitch.

"It really is not a financial consideration," Oyston told Sky Sports News.

"These games will be played and we will only know the financial implications once the season is over and we know how many games have been picked for television.

"At the moment, it is not at the forefront of our mindset - spectator and player safety are."

Oyston believes any fixture congestion caused by the rescheduling of the matches is unlikely to trouble Blackpool, who won promotion to the Barclays Premier League for the first time via the Championship play-offs in May.

"I think it's maybe more of an issue for our opponents rather than for ourselves," Oyston said.

"We have just come out of the Championship and we are used to 46 games in a league season, playing Saturday and Tuesday.

"So it is not something that fazes us, but I suppose the bigger clubs and those involved in Europe will have issues."

frankly, i think we dun..
he had assembled a great team in the past, but that was 2 decades ago and he hasnt done well since.. (ok, he did splash out and won the league with bb soon after he left..)

i go with the team who'll bring no19 back BEFORE the manures..

He has the both the experience of playing and managing for us, he knows the club and system inside out, he is currently involved with us, he has the support and respect of players, staff, club, fans etc.

And I think he can get the best out of the players and I think he will dare to tell players (senior or not, superstar or not) that if they are not 100% commitment and giving it all of the field, they can go f*** off.

I didnt say King Kenny for the long term. I think he is the best we have to steady to ship before we find a long term permanent replacement.
