I thought the marina barrage is supposed to prevent flooding?

Flood Control
The Marina Barrage is part of a comprehensive flood control scheme to alleviate flooding in the low-lying areas in the city such as Chinatown, Boat Quay, Jalan Besar and Geylang.
During heavy rain, the series of nine crest gates at the dam will be activated to release excess storm water into the sea when the tide is low.
In the case of high tide, giant pumps which are capable of pumping an Olympics-size swimming pool per minute will drain excess storm water into the sea.

I am quite sure Hermes flooded!
well even 50% for hermes, I also cant afford, maybe 80% i can still heart pain pain buy... seriously u guys think insurance will compensate this?

anyone in insurance trade to advise?

Depends on what insurance you buy ie Fire Only or All Risk etc. There will be a deductible and the amount or percentage depend on individual policy wording. There is also Loss of Profit/Business Interruption cover. Again depend on whether you buy such cover. I believe most of these shops are under REITS so not too sure whether the property mgt have bought insurance cover for the individual shops.

For those into share market, Starhill Global REIT owns a stake in Wisma and Ngee Ann City. Capitaland owns Ion Orchard. Wheellock owns Wheellock place, all around the same area.

I am wondering what the ministries will be saying again .... :dunno:

i am very sure it is NOT their faults

A deja vu of Nov 2009 :)

THURSDAY'S deluge which submerged parts of Bukit Timah was a 'freak' event that occurs once in 50 years, said Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim.

We have now 2 such event back to back Nov 2009 and now June 2010. Meaning there shouldn't be any such event in our life time if we based on once in every 50 years :)

Starbucks became Starf""ked!

Anyway the water outside starbucks is brown in colour cos of the coffee stored in the cafe where mixed with the rainwater. Lol!
