Adobe/Apple Relationship Takes A Turn For The Worst

Lol, i dunno what's with the need for a removable battery. I mean, if it's faulty then they'll replace with you a new set. Being able to remove the battery or not on my mac is secondary. I think being able to run on battery and need not be plugged for 5 hrs beats a removable battery anytime. seriously at the size of the battery, I don't know how many people is going to lug around a spare battery. Now that they refreshed their lineup, with 10hrs reported battery life, so actual use shd be 7-8 hrs. Oh man thats awesome.

I agree OSX is nothing THAT great. but the fact that I will never get PC viruses gives me a peace of mind don't need to spend on anti-virus softwares and run scans. Oh did i mention my mac boots up in less than 15 secs? shuts down in about 5 secs? I wanna see that happen on Win 7. Really I do.

I have a Win7 PC and a Macbook Pro. Back to topic, actually it is a good thing for the industry to move from Flash to HTML5. Apple is taking a huge gamble to lead the industry towards HTML5. Let's face it, Flash uses **** loads of power. I watch youtube or flash videos on my mac my battery drains like hell and gets damn hot. For those who don't know OSX has their own version of Adobe Flash. It's still flash. HTML5 is leaner and sort of meaner.

Looking at it objectively, Yes Flash dominates the market at the moment. Looking at Apple's marketing prowess and sadly the ginormous Apple Fanatics who follow them kinda blindly. I think Apple has what it takes to usher in HTML5 just like how they changed the way people log on to the internet and the way content is delivered. You cannot deny that the iPhone has changed the way people communicate. It's impact is pardon the cliche, a revolution on the mobile phone.

The first weapon Apple has thrown in to the HTML5 vs Flash battle is obviously the iPad. That rather low-specced oversized iPod Touch with no USB ports and other seemingly basic I/O ports is OMGWTFBBQ ridiculously stupid. (And check out the 3.5mm headphone jack at the top... WTH!?! why there!?) IMO, the iPad is quite a waste of money. BUT look at the possibility with it.

The thing that edges other tablets out is the way Apple delivers content to the devices. Its too simple, and people love it. Okay back to the HTML5 vs Flash developers are forced to adopt that standard and they WILL because of the sheer number of iPad users. At the end of the day, I see Apple winning the battle.

Haha.. they can upgrade the body.. the CPU.. the screens and etc.. but what they really need, is to add additional USB ports.. freaking need more sia!!! haha.. ;)

I bloody agree with you. 2 is

Don think flash is coming to 4g.. adobe is thinking of sue-ing apple.. details not really out yet.. but i guess it's almost a go.. after steve's line at keynote..

"Adobe is rubbish"

haha.. doubt it's coming..

I think you can rule out the possibility of it coming to Apple like forever. Ironic thing is, a lot of professionals who use Adobe CS they run it on a Mac :bsmilie:

macbook is overrated. mac os is hardly anywhere amazing when windows 7 actually manages to for once take into account of sleek in its design. also, which professional multimedia team dun use adobe? personally i feel adobe is probably the biggest player in the digital/multimedia industry and i'm happy to be a adobe user haha.

as for apple. iphone was a craze. yet no bluetooth, fixed battery, 32gb max memory that is nt expandable... well....

put it beside my htc hd2. its puny, less powerful, i have expandable memory, removable battery, DUAL LED FLASH LIGHTS (zomg I GOT FLASH), widerscreen. blah blah blah.
ppl just got suckered into the iphone craze. tats all.

apple is sleek. but apple without adobe isnt going anywhere. wont be surprised flash will go back to apple. after jobs starts begging adobe.

erm... who says iPhone doesn't have Bluetooth? :dunno:

people got suckered into the iPhone is because these people are idiots. they buy the iPhone without first doing research on its suitability. and when the iPhone doesn't meet up to their expectations, they complain left and right.

i have an iPhone and i admit that its call quality is not that fantastic. and there is no memory expansion. but what made me get the iPhone is because of its multimedia capabilities (except for Flash) and also the amount of different contents that can be delivered to it. nothing beats the iPhone when it comes to applications.

so what if the iPhone can't support Flash apps? it's better this way as Flash just drains resources. the Adobe vs Apple thingy... i think Adobe is sulking because Steve bamboozled it by saying Apple won't support Flash before the launch of the CS5.

Oh com'on guys, Adobe is only ONE OF THE FALLOUT with Jobs. Look at Google CEO, he & Jobs used to be good frens too... but now...
Apple is acting really arrogant these past yrs, i really hate the way Jobs handle his suppliers, developer, distributors, & customers.

U talk about Apple listening to their customers on what they want in the new products?? Naive is an understatement. Jobs propaganda is to make close proprietary things that he wants & in his way only, so he control how u use it & what u can use it for. Developers, same thing, u be an obedient dog, Jobs has a bone for u. Do u know apple forum is famous for deleting posts & threads when users reports problems with apple products? Apple turned a deaf ear & ignore customers until class action comes into place or some really serious sh!t happened. Recent eg, wud be the 27" iMac screen issues, it gotten so bad that apple juz can't ignore.

Funny how they're not mentioning all the things Adobe have done to start the confrontation years ago.

  • Framemaker for Mac was dropped.
  • Premiere, the video editing software was languishing, and when they introduced Premiere Pro, it was Windows only. Apple had been buying companies and introduced Final Cut Pro.
  • Adobe applications still do not run correctly on Mac OS X for the very simplest of things like using 0.0 % CPU when idle.
  • Flash is a pig on platforms other than Windows. Actually, it's a pig on Windows, too, but not as bad because they've spent more time developing it for Windows than Mac OS X or Linux/*BSD.
  • Photoshop Elements releases on Mac OS X are sporadic and really late.

i seriously dun think Adobe is the problem here. For 1, apple has been screwing suppliers, developers & customers all over the same these yrs. Adobe is not the only one getting sh!t from apple. There r many more developers who had been supporting & advocating the use of apple computers since OS 6 days, but now r turning away from apple.

Dun think u got the facts right. Apple introduces final cut pro when Avid fell out with them. These days Avid only wants u to buy windows PC to run, claiming mac is not so well developed & windows has much better integration, support, blah blah... juz to sway customers away from using apple pc. Inevitably, FCP kills off Avid (kind of) & step into premiere turf. That made Adobe very angry & drop premiere on mac altogether. It used to be mac only low end NLE but they migrated to windows. Then heavy retaliation starts, all the new releases & new apps r either late or not very well supported or totally not found on mac at all. Why is CS 4 not 64bit in mac ver? Leopard can handle 64bit apps already when CS4 was released.

Apple is not going to stop there. They will one day introduce a powerful graphics app & throw Adobe out. Juz look at their Soundtrack pro vs Adobe Sound booth. Logic 9 vs Pro Tools. FCP vs Avid vs Premiere. Motion vs After efx vs Combustion vs Shake. iWorks vs Office. Aperture vs Lightroom. iPhone vs winmo vs Symbian vs Android. The list goes on.

its business of course, competition is to be expected but going about it in an "unscrupulous arrogant way", that i'm not happy about.

You forgot to mention the another BIGGEST fallout with regards to Apple/Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs with Bill Gates over the Macintosh and Windows. :D He sure has a long history! Oh, he even fell out with people within Apple back then. So you can say, actually Steve Jobs has always been arrogant and not just these past few years.

The fallout with Google you can't blame Apple, Google intended to compete with them in the smartphone segment. Just like how McLaren wanted to create a supercar but Mercedes refused to allow them. In the end they seperated. Same thing.

I think the biggest justification for conforming to Job's proprietary stuff is that he knows how to deliver stuff. I mean for the end users, really most of the headaches are ironed out and not passed on to the end users. Update? just a click or two, done. Get new apps? One click and type your password, done. He knows how to appeal to the masses.

Still I think the leader in design software still has to go to Adobe. and yes i won't be surprised to see apple dumping out a Photoshop competitor to piss Adobe off.

Thing is, why bother so much? If it's good, just use. If it's not, don't use. That's it.

Lol, i dunno what's with the need for a removable battery. I mean, if it's faulty then they'll replace with you a new set. Being able to remove the battery or not on my mac is secondary. lol, with the previous 5 hr specs, after one year, the battery life become pangsai, i have friends who report 1 hr+ battery life. :bsmilie::bsmilie:

really you do. really!!!!!!!!! :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Ya I really do want to see a Win7 computer actually used to shut down in 10 secs. Not referring to PC viruses and technically the 'virus' in that video is not a PC virus.

Its just another war between tech giants. Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Apple, HTC. These few will give lawyers more than enough money for their whole careers!

Despite the Apple hate. I must say, there is a good reason why Apple has sold the amount of iPhones and Ipods they did. Everyday, I count at least 3 iPhones on a train. No matter what the hate says, it has bought tech to the masses in a way never done before. The grouses against it, doesnt actually matter THAT much to the average consumer. It plays games, it calls, it SMSes, it looks good and its an ipod + phone.

Os X overrated? Do you game? If yes, of course, OS X is horrible. If you do like the ability to plug a monitor and it works instantly( took me 20 minutes to configure my screen properly with Vista, glad to say W7 solved the issue), Mac for you.

"Installing Driver, Driver unsuccessfully installed" <------------- Seen this till I wanna cry when i was using Windows.

Mac, has it fair share of issues, like NTFS file systems, how 3rd party stuff just doesnt work as well( monopoly as said by some members here, cant say they are wrong) as the originals.

End of the day, consumers and the industry decides whats good and what is not. Apple is growing from strength to strength year by the year. Adobe is coming up with some really neat stuff. Microsoft seems to be heading for a revival.

With competition it can only get better. Why bother arguing, use what makes you feel good!:D

Apple have been marketing iPhone for business "iPhone 3GS comes with amazing benefits for business users out of the box"-Apple.com

And, what matters more to business users than data security..

Let's say, a user's 32GB iPhone's battery's dead. You need to take it to the service center.
With any other phone, just take out the memory card, or just replace the battery.
For laptop, just ask the service center to return the HDD or replace the battery.

With the iPhone.. plug it into a computer and transfer 32GB of data out (hmm.. how long does it take in practice.. seriously doubt it'll move at 480Mbps). Then, painstakingly delete each and every files on the iPhone.. 32GB of them!!!! Hmm.. maybe some business users are always very free and and afford phone downtime of few hours..

Lol, i dunno what's with the need for a removable battery. I mean, if it's faulty then they'll replace with you a new set. Being able to remove the battery or not on my mac is secondary. Bluetooth, in practical sense to most pple, means ability to transfer files wirelessly between different devices. that is very basic expectation.

Any seriously, which high tech phone doesn't support that basic function. And it is no surprise that many pple doesn't realised that a high-tech iPhone is crippled.

And, for most pple, they checkout the phone on internet and shops, and it wrote "Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR wireless technology"! or said "Yes, got bluetooth!"

"Enhanced Data Rate" somemore.. which user would have expected it to be no able to transfer data to other devices!?

Apple should put on it's website "Crippled Bluetooth!"

erm... who says iPhone doesn't have Bluetooth? :dunno:

Yes, iPhone is a really nice phone. It's fantastic, in a way.

And, it's only natural that consumers are upset that such a fantastic phone is crippled. If it is a lousy product, pple wouldn't have bothered, isn't it. the thing is, Apple doesn't listen to users. It could probably have been 1 of "the ultimate phone", but it was not to be, as dictated by the manufacturer.

Despite the Apple hate. I must say, there is a good reason why Apple has sold the amount of iPhones and Ipods they did. Everyday, I count at least 3 iPhones on a train. one thing i have to agree with Jobs... Flash is a CPU hog.

Why would that be a problem for a single tasking phone, when it is not a problem for the rest of the world's multi tasking phones? :dunno:

My mom says, stupid is as stupid does.

Apple is acting really arrogant these past yrs, i really hate the way Jobs handle his suppliers, developer, distributors, & customers.

I have seen Apple repeat the cycle of going from good to great, then turning their back on the people who have bailed them out in the past (including customers), running into trouble, then repeating the process again. Unfortunately I also have to admit, they are really good innovators of great ideas. It's just their attitude since the 80s (err.. yes, I am that old) have been the same. I am just waiting for the next cycle of their downfall when they shoot themselves too many times in the leg.

When Palm came up with Foleo, everybody condemned it to hell even before it was launch.

I don't see much difference between Foleo and IPad. And just look at the craze. Guess a large portion of Apple uses are just fanatics. Of course, there are still the sane ones...

Thats another long story history behind the fallout within Apple. Steve hired this guy from Pepsi & he back stab Steve & got the directors to sack him, then Steve went on to start NEXT computers. Not really a case of Steve being arrogant & got the boot.

The smartphone segment is retaliation from google. The fallout for this 2 party was before the Android. But i see Steve is more of the aggressor, he's always producing competing products against his allies.

Its not a case of u like apple product or not, the topic here is about Apple falling out with people who made him who he is & where he is today. Like what wildcat mentioned above, his act of burning bridges & biting the hands that feed is really unethical, if u ask me.

Apple is not going to stop there. They will one day introduce a powerful graphics app & throw Adobe out.
I'ld like to see what Apple can come up with against Adobe's big 3: Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign... and possibly Aftereffects and Dreamweaver... and what would happen to Apple's MacPro sales if Adobe somehow thought that these programs are too "troublesome" to program for OSX :bsmilie:

Camera phones are seriously getting cool nowadays! Thanks to the bros for clarifying :bsmilie:

BTW, not all iphone users are mac fans and I'm a mac user w/o an iphone
