Sorry, this is the best I could do... at this point in time.
Your original in jpg doen't give me as much leeway as a RAW would.

Hi, thanks.

Care to share ur technique? curve?

curves doesn't work for mixed lighting like this. i used selective color and tweaked each color channel individually.

Go to layer, new adjustment layer, selective color, under 'yellow', tweak the yellow slider to -100%, magenta slider to -80%. Tweak the yellow slider if you want more yellow. :)

I would at least try to adjust in-camera first.. The white balance is simply bad..... Unless of course i unknowingly shot beforehand in the same lighting without adjusting.

The blue channel is shot:

Replace that with the green channel, darken that channel with levels, then make a curves adjustment to the RGB image.

yes tweaking the channels is one of the approach.

in addition to what Peano mentioned, you should also try to blend the adjustments with respect to the relative tones of the highlights vs. midtones vs. shadows, because shadows and highlights tend to be not as saturated as midtones... try using the "Blend If" sliders on the "Blending Options" windows...

The Auto WB probably not functioning for that particular shot; happen to my old P&S at times.

no sample to show, open the jpg in camera raw and use the WB picker tool. Fine tune with temperature & tint sliders.

its a event which i asked my friend to help cover as i am tied up with another event on the same day. It is not just the tungsten lighting but also the colored bulb cover or whatever you call that that the ballroom used. The cover is yellow in color and that we cant use flash in the ballroom thus the $%^&*( colorcast.
