hi...im looking a new dslr camera...can anyone give me advise which brand and type that suitable for beginner like me...im prefer nikon...but still dont know which one...and where can i get the best price for this....

You seem rather experienced with the Alpha system. Mind telling me what mainly made you choose Alpha? I would like to hear more from people. Currently boombox my dear friend is suggesting i could go nikon or alpha. I am currently using Canon 40D. But like all brands, Canon has it's weak points.
I am considering my next buy to be 5Dmk2, d700 or A850. Let's keep this discussion healthy to know each brand better, also serve to help threadstarter know more before he decides.
5Dmk2 - almost all rounder lest for sports. But i don't really like canon flash system, though i like their lenses. Overpriced full frame.
d700 - quite a step back from their 2 competitors. But i like nikon bodies and flash.
a850 - All new field to explore, plus I love carl zeiss lenses. PLUS real value for money full frame. How's their flash system?

The FL58AM is a very good, very unique flash. Angles any way you want it to! Sony also supports some flash options much like Nikon's CLS, such as controlling multiple wireless flashes with different power ratios, etc etc.

Since you decide on Nikon, it is a very good choice.
For Nikon DSLR, there is FX (full frame) and DX (cropped sensor). The sensor for FX is bigger. DX because of the smaller sensor, the field of view (FOV) is 1.5x of FX. E.g. a 50mm on DX, the FOV is like 75mm on FX.
DX lens and FX lens are also different in terms of price and quality.
For DX,
For entry level, you can get
D3000 (ard 1-1.2K) or D5000 (ard 1.5K)
For prosumer, you can get
D90 (ard 1.8K) or D300s (ard 3.4K)
For FX,
For prosumer, you can get
D700 (dunno how much)
For professional, you can get
D3, D3s, D3x (All >>> 5K)

If you are new to SLR, there will be a steep learning curve. Do know why you want to get a DSLR and what you will be shooting first. Then comes the budget.
If you are just trying out, a D3000 or D5000 will do. If you are serious but not sure if you will get all the way, D90 or D300s.
If you have the money and know you will continue this hobby, then D700.
If you are professional, D3 series.

Yes, and between the two, the Nikon system is vastly superior IMHO.
But for everyday flash needs? For 99% of people out there, they won't ever use any advanced flash feature.

well... i don't look at figures though but i think this is very very hard to believe and close to IMPOSSIBLE. never in a point in the digital era that NIKON came close to CANON in 3 years in a row when it comes to sales. in the film days i might agree..

if you have an iphone just go to stocks and see the difference
with sales or not.. even canon wont sell a single camera i am still with canon and will die with canon.
I'd say Sony took over a pretty good flash system from Minolta, and is just under Nikon.
thanks guys.... i named this thread "new person" bcos actually one year ago i hv bought olympus E520 as my first dslr...why olympus?..cos my short-term "guru" used that brand too (E3)(i can share lens with him)...and also he said olympus is the best selling in asia.... after one month using that camera, for me , that e520 very2 suitable for beginner cos that time only they who hav "live view" function...and i never use auto mode, only manual...
sadly, got financial problem, that e520 sold to my friend....(just 2 months in my hand)
and now, many of my friend likes dslr and hav their own, but no one use olympus...mostly use canon....
so, for this 2010, i like to start it again...be a "new person" in photograhy...lookin for new dslr (maybe canon or nikon ; which one is leading brand), budget about 1k, and seriously can play wit this toy (their setting, lens and others).....and not too simple bcos im not easily get satisfied, need something new that can explore again again and again..
sadly, got financial problem, that e520 sold to my friend....(just 2 months in my hand)

Personally, I recommend Nikon D90.
I've been using it since September 2008 and still discovering features in the camera that I don't know about
However, it is out of your 1K budget. The D90 kit costs about 1600-1700.
