Ok, I lent it to my parents who recently went on vacation and they dropped it once. Now the battery compartment cannot close properly (luckily it still can stay shut, just that the open-close slider no longer works).

I am not sure what other damage has been done. I noticed in some of the photos they took (after the drop), it appeared blue-ish in hue, but after awhile the photos appear normal. I recently took my camera out for some snaps and tho most turned out ok, there was a couple of blue-ish hue ones... what's happening?! Maybe I'm paranoid but I just want to send it for servicing to make sure everything's ok.

If I send it back to Panasonic for servicing (still under warranty), do I have to pay and how much? Will it be additional to get the case fixed? Will I need to explain the blue-ish hue problem? Cos I myself don't know if that's a result of the drop or the color settings messed up...

Thanks all and sorry for the noob questions.

Warranty does'nt cover physical damage.

Go down and get a quote.

reset your camera settings, and see if u stil have the hue problem. could be wb metering error.
send it down to panasonic to get the camera checked, if the color problem is infact a problem with the hardwares, it MIGHT be under warranty, but the open-close slider will not be covered under warranty like Diavonex mentoned earlier.

Under warranty:

Checking ----> free
Parts to be replaced if any (damage not cover under warranty) ----> pay with 30% off
Labor to replace / repair ----> free

yikes! should get it checked!

by the way..when u send out the guarantee card, was there a return reply? I didn't get any reply unlike other product guarantee card I sent out.

Just bring the receipt of purchase as proof

Good luck with your LX3

I dropped my GF1 once too! heartbroken:bheart:

but luckily it's a minor drop (2 feet height) without any problem;p

If they had bought travel insurance.......

Thanks I will try resetting the camera settings! Hope that can solve it. The case doesn't bother me that much cos the battery compartment door isn't falling open, so can take my time to save up for the repair cost.

Oh never thought about that, I'm sure they did, they're very kiasu. Will see if can claim hehe. Thanks!

I didn't send out the warranty card haha I'm so dead! Will just go there with the card and receipt and see what they say.

I got the same problem as you, except mine is dropped by my gf. :( The drop made the part of the case, where the battery compartment is, went a little out of shape so it's a pain trying to change battery now. Have to shake the camera hard a few times to get the battery out. It's worse for 3rd party battery, have to shake even harder and hit the camera on my palm to get the battery out. The battery cap cannot close fully too. But thankfully the latch can still secure the cap so at least still can close, but just not fully closed. :(

I also haven't sent out the warranty card, am working overseas for quite a while... will probably do it when I come back. Good luck, dude, please update me how it goes if possible, whether it's expensive or not to repair or replace the case. :)
