The major hotels are all fine.I stayed at a Hotel called Golden Dragon Hotel. The lodging there is fine. It's opposite Fisherman's Wharf. If not,Venitian. It's rather ex but it's quite worthwhile.Stayed there once:thumbsup:.It's good cos there is shutter bus to most part of Macau.

Just came back yesterday and it is really hot. Nov should be cool enough to walk around.... Taxi starts from HKD 13. Try Hotel Royal.... clean and nice staff. but not a casino hotel. Walk from hotel to grand lisboa in less then 10 minutes.

Vanitian is a let down 'get bored of the interior after an hour' but still is a must go. Wynn fountain show is nice. once every 15 minutes with diff song every time.

Can finish visiting macau in 1 night and half a day. food is very nice-(prefer it over HK food)-HK food is commercialise just like singapore... haha

... vanetian casino (slot machine) us HKD for transaction... weird

Hope it help...

Hi guys,

My friends & I are planning a trip to HK in February next year (the week before CNY). Any recommendations for good & affordable lodging (preferably in/nearby Kowloon area), since most of us are students?

Anyone went there during the CNY period before? How is it like over there?

Try this: http://www.sealandhouse.com.hk/

Clean, very good location. Just beside the MTR. Less expectation will be great.

In my first and only trip to HK, I took Shamrock Hotel. Just steps away from Jordan MTR, a few minutes walk to Tsim.

Have stayed in Holiday Inn Express at Causeway Bay.. nice environment, clean, fair price and convenient. Walking distance to many shopping centres, MTR and eating places.. though not in/nearby Kowloon area.

Went there in mid-January, weather is cooling! A warm jacket will be useful.

Enjoy your trip!

I agree! Hotel Royal not bad.. clean, fair price, nice breakfast buffet too! They have free shuttle bus to Macau central where most major casinos located, so no issue for those who intend to visit the casinos.

hi,

is the room there big ? thinking of sqeezing in 3 persons :p

HK room always not big, but they got a 3 bed room, 1 queen size + a single bed. There should left about the space for another 8 people standing.

If not wrong, also got a double deck + a single bed type. Just email them ask for quote. They reply very promptly.
For student who go budget, just want a place to sleep / clean, this is the one. Remember it is a guest house, not a hotel

For a little bit hoping on luxury, this is not the one.

Thanks guys, for the recommendations...will look thru them. =)

btw avoid yellow taxi if you could, take the black one. Also lookout for the Vanitian Chinese Zoadic / English horoscopt thingy, its shell which opens up and a dragon statue will rise from it. quite cool

Eating wise i always go for the smaller cafes, dam shiok and local feel. Also the toys/gundams/figurines etc are cheaper there, check it out if you are interested.

Also zhuhai hotels are way cheaper and ferries are available from zhuhai, lesser traffic.
