A peek inside the Leica factory in Germany

Dpreview has posted a fascinating pictoral essay as to how Leica cameras and lenses are made at its factory in Solms, Germany.

Someone asked why the Leica M9 costs US$7K -- maybe the answer can be found by talking a virtual walk around the factory floor.

Personally, I'm v interested in the compact (APSC size) Leica X1 -- this reminds me so much of my old Nikon 35Ti. Hope Nikon will rise to the competition and come out with a more affordable version of the X1.
