I was referring to Singapore only. I intend to travel that way and wanted to know beforehand so that I could plan out accordingly. Thanks

You travel to singapore but i think local camera only to bring to singapore canon service centre. and No outside singapore camera. I think so.
I believe that If bought camera in singapore. then can use canon buy back.
If you bought camera in your country and cannot use canon buy back in singapore.

what do we need to bring down for the trade-in? just the old canon camera? how the things like the charger, cables, etc?

Just bring your old Canon camera only to CSC.

I do not think they check if old Canon camera is bought in SG or outside SG. For foreigner opting for the program at service center, the problem may be the waiting time for the CSC to order the model and sms you.

Mine took only 3 days and they sms to collect at CSC.

Thanks friends. Looks like the delivery dates would vary depending on the availability of the model. I could always ask a friend to collect then.:D
I’m currently having a 400D and was thinking of a 40D or a 50D. When I checked with CP last week they quoted 1,766 for the 50D KIT (18-55IS)
Any idea how much I would need to pay if I go for this trade in offer. Anyone had done similar swap.

even if its working, they will still take in.. ;p i bought one camera recently under this program with my fully functional film canon camera.. they also accept Canon digital cameras...

:bsmilie:

else why do you see a influx of sellers desperately selling their 18-200mm IS lens for $900 or less... some even as low as $800...

$1667 for Kit 2 set 500D, discount $800 for the lens which can be sold in Bns... The body for 500D is only $867 nett.. so cheap!

price dropped
last month I asked was S$952.

Good news

hi, just wonder, what's the price for Canon 500D Kit (18-55IS) under this buy back program?

We can just go to those 2nd hand shop like Cash converter to get a 50dollars canon film camera then trade in....wow...good deal!

so, freebies still included under this buy back program?

:bsmilie::bsmilie:excited!

hi bro,

sorry but I call 67998888 today, and they said they don't have such thing called "trade-in program". What they have is that for those who has faulty camera and want to fix them but find out that the cost is more expensive then buy new one, so they will offer the new camera at a bit lower price then market, so its only for broken camera only who need to fix not for trade in!!!! the problem is my powershot camera is not broken and I want to upgrade to SLR...

hi bro, i think that has already been stated earlier in this thread...

basicallu smae thing different term. "trade-in" is just a common term people are using, it is actaully called privilege purchase program. anyways when u bring down ur "faulty" camera, they do not check the camera for functionality. so it doesn't matter...

Hmm wondering if they sell 500D without kit lens, just body only. Cos feel like getting a 2nd body for my gf.

Hi, will the price quote be different for the 500D kit 1 if i bring a canon pns or a canon dslr/slr for the ppp?

yes, PnS will be more expensive. was 1111 1 mth ago. not sure about trading in with a dslr. u can get some really spoilt and old canon for this program. u better give them a call. tell them u have a spoilt camera, give them model. and ask for the price for kit 1 for buy back program. they will transfer your call to respective department.

I finally got down to trading Ixus 800 for the 500D today. I will be paying S$1111 for it, and it will be ready for collection next week. I think you might pay the same amount regardless of whether its a DSLR or PNS?

i called up canon and was told this will not be a always kind of "promotion". When the management decide not to have it then they will pull out this "trade in".
not sure how true thou.
:)

What i got to know from canon is actually they do not offer anything called "trade-in" for a new camera. It is only a case-by-case basis that they will offer customers this "upgrade scheme" and is only for those cameras which are spoilt beyond repair OR the model is too old that they no longer could get the spare parts. Only then will they offer this upgrade scheme to the customers. =(

my experience is there is no need to proof anything... just bring a old cam (be it functional or not), tell them u want to buy a new model using the old cam to trade in... they will provide u a list of available camera for selection... u chose, go home wait for call or sms... done... they dnt care and dont ask questions one... i just did tat in jul this year...

Anyone knows what the price for G10 trade in? Going to Cash converters to see if can get the cheapest Canon camera for trade in purposes.....
