just now went to see some of the cameras..
can i ask if i want to take fast moving pictures,do i look at the shutter speed or the ISO or both??
are the above two cameras able to take F1 cars in action?camera specs or lenses counts???

it is not the camera but the person behind the camera
Canon / Nikon = Pay more for VR and IS Lens
Sony = Pay more for accessories like flash, VG etc. ( lens can get 3rd party or old minolta lens)

set ur shutter speed to a faster speed
if not enough light, up the iso or down the f stop

as for lenses, it depends how near or far you are away from the cars, also a lens with faster focusing speed is preffered

:nono: As i have mentioned, the high end flashes from C & N are actually more expensive than the Sony F58AM. VG wise, other camps may offer cheaper price but theirs are only a simple grip w/o controls unlike the Sony's. Give it a thought.

Yes, both cameras are able to take F1 cars in action. Camera spec, Shutter Speed, ISO and lenses all play a part. Someone actually used a 20+ years old 70-210mm f4 lens on an entry level Sony cam in the previous F1 in SG and produced great pictures. Do a search to see if you locate that thread. But if you are really into fast actions, Canon may be a better choice since they have a longer range lens but be prepared to spend a bomb.

thanks all for the valuable informations..
hope to get the hang of using SLR asap..cheers..:)

will try to do a search to see if i can find those F1 pics..

Yes bro. All taken with beercan handheld. The power of beercan and in-body SSS.

IIRC, these are taken with the Sony A100 only.

Looks like i am on a right choice of getting a Sony DSLR.
20yr+ old lens with my lousy A200 if can produce such pictures
then F1 here i come!

No point getting from there...

Do your market research first... and you'll realise that most often, the IT shows have camera deals close to the RRP (but they throw in a bit of freebies to attract users)

If you don't need those freebies, go to the shops reccomended in the forum here and ask for a quote and make sure they honour the quote before you pay up....

You have left out "looking carefully at the freebies before buying". Zac's advice is correct, the deals at such fares are not really good. Reason: those freebies are mostly cheap stuff "most go". Going to reputable shops will get you a lower price and the choice whether you want freebies or get the necessary accessories step by step and well-selected. What's the point of getting things for free if the quality is only mediocre and you will replace them rather sooner than later? Cleaning kit is not essential in the first days. Take the time to check the various types of tripods before you spend. The same goes for camera bags: huge selection of brands, types and sizes. Is the 2nd battery an original one or 3rd party? Keep in mind: not many people buy those freebies 2nd hand once you replace them with better equipment.
