I just got it from ShutterCentral today. Fixed and used it over family dinner at ECP.

Great handling and gives me more grip. It works perfectly fine with one or two original or 3rd party Phottix LP-E5 or 6 AA alkaline batteries.

If fit two LP-E5 together, the power will be transmitted together in parallel. Anyway, I also gotten 2 x Phottix LP-E5. It's now double upon double of power for my 450D. ;)

:bsmilie: Enjoy your battery grip. You'll find portrait more interesting than without grip. ;)

:bsmilie: I'm using other lens though. But there shouldn't be a problem using that 55-250mm at that range to capture 'em with your camera. My lens maxed out at 200mm and hence gotta make do with it, which fitted the frame nicely. :)

Swans wise, you can always bring along bread or whatever food they like. Stay by the side of the lake and lure them with it. ;) I saw a kid feeding the swans though. :bsmilie:
They can get aggressive at times.

The weight is good. I've 2 original batts. Haha.

I have 4 3rd party batteries and only 1 original battery which I charged it once and left it aside. :bsmilie:

Not quite. From what I've observed while the kid is feeding 'em, they're generally quite okay. Perhaps the aggressive part belongs to isolated cases.

Yup. I shot it with ease with one hand just now over dinner.

One hand food. One hand cam shooting with 50mm. Brilliant weight balance. :bsmilie:

oh bored...haha...no lah, i'm fine going to shoot alone hehe. can test out my new tamron 70-300mm too provided i get it on tuesday.

any ideas which L lens to go for street shots without looking in the viewfinder? basically, shooting excellent pictures without letting people know u're shooting.

best if we can mod the shutter sound away. tat way close up they also wldn't know wahaha...

What's the recommendations? Would like to use them for backup for battery grip as well as the 430EX II..

actually when you do flower shots, saw single stalk close up, hmm, really haven't explored macro stuffs but seem interesting to explore, wld u use e kit or e 55-250 still? or even e UWA?

haiyo, as i type all these, i seemed to have SOOOOOO MUCH to learn still.

since u got the 10-22..why not take it as a challenge and use it on dat day?

:bsmilie: Generally you gotta ask yourself whether such way of shooting is a feasible method or not.

Don't bother to get L lens. Your kit lens should be able to handle the job with ease.

hw much u paid for it huh? tinking of one too. but not getting so soon. mainly just to aid vertical shoots so its kind of a luxury item which i can live with for now.

I had prefer to use AA for flash only. For camera, stick to the batteries than use AA since they last much longer.

Sanyo Eneloop at $15 before GST. Pretty reasonable I guess. Anyone has a better deal? ;)

i got the eneloop batteries for my 430exII also. excellent batts, rem when i first got them, i was already out for a shoot, i just popped them all in my flash and it worked like a charm. batt holds its charge over time pretty well!

$110 - Grip + 2 LP-E5

Grip alone is $90. One Phottix LP-E5 is about more than $10. I go for the package instead. :)

Tortoises wise, I guess you'll have a hard time taking pictures of them than swans.

I'll choose 55-250mm instead though. Narrow enough to isolate the target. You can do a simple experiment. Take any object that resembles flower (in respect to the size), then use your UWA and try to take a shot. At all range, if none is agreeable in your opinion, then UWA is not up to the task. ;)
