Exposure Compensation on Canon

silly question but i realised that i can adjust the exposure during non manual modes with the

as well as setting the power switch to / position.

is there any difference btw using either way to adjust? i always used the / method to do it. :dunno:

Exposure compensation is done with the

. The power switch only got ON and OFF... I think there is no / position in xxD/xxxD series (not sure about 1D series). What model Canon DSLR are you using??

if u look at the power switch, after the on position, there is an additonal position. u can use that to change exposure on av and tv mode. i think it has been there since the 5D.

Oh... you mean that's one. That's to power on and enabled the quick control dial which is also use to set the exposure compensation when enabled. I think xxD also have it...

yeah. i know. i was wondering what is the difference btw using that and the exposure button.

Nothing Flip.

That control at the power switch alows you the option to switch the rear control dial on or off.

If your camera allows you (and most Canon cameras do, to various extents) to assign a particular function to the dial, then choose one which you need to use most frequently without the delay of taking the camera from your eye, or having to press buttons and turning knobs etc.

ok. i guess i will switch to using the button if its the same thing. i always thought the button was for flash compensation. :embrass:

I think the on top button is for flash exposure compensation, but not sure does it do exposure compensation if no flash is use.
