Now the story doesn't make any sense anymore.

First time I read that there's a door for urinal.

If Mas Selamat is taking a leak at the urinal, why must he remove his pants and place it over the door of the so called urinal door.
You as a woman, how do you know urinals have no doors? hehehhe

denniskee,

It's in the Newpaper with drawings and it's two urinal with a door.

Ahem.. you know what is censorship? How often you see somebody criticizing our govt during interview been shown over TV news or on newsapers?

People can say all kind of things they want during interview, but they only show what they wants you to see, its not live!! :bsmilie:

True on censorship.

that's why i hardly watch the local tv discussions anymore unless I happened to be "passing by". The coverage is untruthfully too clean.

but if everyone says something to wake up Big Brother that we are not a bunch to be trifled with, then the media got nothing to show for. Of cos, that's a dream only. Apparently it's almost impossible to happen here. Sometimes, I wonder if some people really have a voice on their own or just "go with the flow".

It's really amazing. Cos of the few interviews I've heard or seen on TV, a good handful are just regurgitate everything that has been said by the ministers and authorities. For eg: "We all have a part to play... We all must remain vigilant... We can't take for granted security here.. BLAH BLAH" Oh geeze... as if we haven't heard enough of those? Who's not being vigilant in the first place?!

We need a Larry King or Oprah kinda show here. *dreamz*

Anyway, was reading the report again. Really can't believe it. Probably a pri school kid can design a better security system! Geeze man, a terrorist escaping thru an open window in the presence of i-dunno-what-to-do guards!

[Edited cos I received a warning from admin for infarction! Voiced too much of my politcal views,I was told, though I mildly disagree. But I shall tone down and abide. Don't want to get anyone here in trouble. Apologies.]

haha, they want to appear on TV when they are interviewed so must say something nice mah :bsmilie:

or maybe they are given a script to read

From today's The Straits Time's photo show that Whitley Road Detention Centre is not a proper jail but a "detention centre".

If Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) detainee Mas Selamat Kastari is such a big threat to Singapore national security, in the first place if Whitley Road Detention Centre a correct to place him. But if he is place at Changi jail will he escape from detention in February, I have answer to this.

felt the same way too... a suspect with a terrorist trained background should not place in such a low-graded security facility... this is common sense to anyone on the street.

I wonder who make the decision to keep Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) detainee Mas Selamat Kastari in the Whitley Road Detention Centre ?

if you'd read the report, it stated that the system was being upgraded to add motion sensors. if it is in the process of being upgraded, how can it be working?:nono::nono::nono:

"In addition, the CCTV coverage of the area was being upgraded to add motion-detectors, but the cameras were not yet operational."

So has the upgrading being completed at the time of escape?

"Was being upgraded" "Is being upgraded"
Is there any difference in the two?:dunno:

Why use "but" to empahise the cameras are not working. If the upgrading is still in progress, shoudn't they use "and" the cameras were not yet operational?

I think the fence of the primary school beside my house looks taller than the dentention center :bsmilie::bsmilie:

My take is I think the Goverment must have either silent Mas Selamat or he had escape liao. There is no more Mas Selamat in Singapore...........

Well, after hearing the report and the gahmen statement, (which in my limited and hopeless intellect translates to "Accountability? Aiyo, why use big big words? Relak lah brudders"), I guess it's life as usual.

Now, on a lighter note, I guess this Mas Selamat fiasco will now make its way into local pop culture. Example:

"Don't pull a Mas Selamat on me ah..." ==> Don't run away ah...
"You always Mas Selamat lah..." ==> You always missing lah...
"Why you so Mas Selamat???" ==> Why you take so long in the toilet???

It is always easy to comment and criticise when it happened and when it is over.

There is never a perfect system in the world. Yes it happened.

We should look forward and look at improvement and something constructive.

The SOP is there. It is the people who did not follow the instruction. It is fortunate that you and I were not in that situation.

Maybe you should tell us the things you would do if you were the guard on duty!

Well said. What would you suggest than?

I agreed with you. The choice of words do get many irritated.

strange, they peg thier salaries to the coporate world yet do not peg thier accountilbility to coparate governence.

I wonder what punishment the 2 gurkas and supervisor will get? Sacked, demoted, or carreer death. How about the top ppl? Should'nt they take responsibilities as well...:thumbsd:

If dun criticize then what? Let it be? Sure it's spilt milk but do you appreciate the gravity of the situation here?

We are not dealing with juvenile cases. It's a terrorist. Geddit?

What would I do if I'm the guard on duty? What a question. Barge on the door. Use my common sense/ initiative to think there's something wrong? Can? This kind of thing also need to ask? Tsk tsk. Give up seats on MRT trains for the less abled also must ask permission issit? Everything also follow law, follow books? Is that why the incident happened?

Anyway, I'm not a guard. They are trained aren't they? It's their responsibility. Otherwise, why be a guard? If you are there being paid to do your job, you jolly well do it. If you need to ask the public like me what should have been done, then I say Gone Case.
