Pentax 18-250 available in Singapore?

Richard, congrats on the purchase, looks like a decent lens. It's a rebadged tamron so don't have the quick shift function like the other DA lenses.
thanks. not cheap. I think slightly more than S$900 including vpost. the 7% gst was terrible!
but the range is really good for general snapshots during the holiday. would be even better if the lens is faster. at f/6.3, the exposure time does lag over lower light conditions where even the AS is unable to compensate. going to try it out this week and see how it performs.

I know...but have hoped Pentax would add their personal touch besides the SMC coating..

Good news for fellow pentaxians
I just came back from our friendly neighbour up north and saw the actual pentax 18 - 250 on sale :bigeyes:
I asked and actually they only officially launched on Friday, got a quote straight away and it was going for 1900 ringgit!
After converting to SGD at 1 : 2.3, it is about $827 (should be cash terms only).
For those interested, the shop i went to was called Foto CLS at Pelangi Leisure Mall (2 storey mall with Giant) and you can ask for Bobby
They have limited stocks, so hurry up guys :sweat:

jsut to let you know that i have seen it in chinatown (Temple Street) and the shop name is MANLY DEPARTMENT STORE PTE LTD. i think the price they offer is rather reasonable.
Isn't that the shop that did the Pentax booth during Comex (or was it Sitex) last year?

yes...its the best lens to bring for holiday. I brought a sigma 30 f/1.4 along as a fast lens but only used it for a couple of shots in the hotel room. The 18-250 stayed on the rest of the time. If I had known it was so flexible, I would not have brought the 30mm along not the ccd blower...heh heh. But you are so spoiled by your cool toys I am not sure the compromises from such a long lens will satisfy you..
