VR question

hi all,

i juz switched to a 18-200 VR but unlike my previous 55-200 VR i can hardly hear my VR at work. cuz my 55-200 VR is pretty loud like flash charging sound. the only sound i can hear on my 18-200 is the motor focusing. its usually on NORMAL mode, is this normal? as in i can still hear it if i place it near my ears and try hard enough, but barely... :think:

you still hear some ticking sound when you half press yr shutter and after you let go right..?

another way to check is to see if the image in the viewfinder "jumps" when you half press, usually ppl wan less sound you wan more ar..?

You should hear the muted clicking sounds. Maybe it's different because it's a VRII?

maybe u can try and see if the "viewfinder lag" (can't find a better way to describe it) is present... if it is there, then the VR should be fine.

thats what i suspect also haha... but need to confirm.

take a photo at 1/20s at the tele end with and without VR. you should be able to see the difference if the VR is working.

you should still be able to hear that little gyroscope clicking. Me and my friend's copy does.
Although i come to realise my different lenses give different musical notes
